OK,

So I downloaded a wallet. It synchronized to the network. it says I have nothing. Is this possible?

mind you I have a file on my computer that contains blockchain data that's rather large.

Can I do anything with that?

blockchain data is rather large indeed - let say few GB  xD it is downloading with your wallet (Perhaps you are using Core) and it is needed for wallet to be synchronized with Bitcoin network.

You have any file with your private-keys that you want to import? (those are pretty tiny anyway Cheesy )

Answer : yes it is possible that you have nothing. If you never bought or earn any BTC it is highly possible (let say 99.99999999% chance that you have nothing)

If you had some coins, and now you have none - there are few possibilities:
-You spent them
-You lost them

You mean you just downloaded the wallet software, let it sync with the network and you don't have any coins? You should have at least 50 by now. lol

You have to download about 20 Gb of data before your wallet will sync.
After that you can send (and receive) btc, if this is your first wallet it's totally empty!

I recomment to read those bitcoins FAQ to better understand how it works:

There is some pretty outdated information on the Interwebz, especially from the time that the Satoshi client had the generate coins button. Maybe OP was thinking that by synchronising he will get some coins?
Also, you could use a thin client, such as Electrum, which doesn't need to sync(hence, no need for the extra storage and wait time).

you can't just get bitcoins by downloading the blockchain. in order for you to receive bitcoins, someone has to send them to you! i thought that much was obvious. Cheesy

What people is saying is that having no bitcoins in your new wallet is the natural thing to expect. You just downloaded the wallet and the blockchain, you didn't mine nothing yet. To receive bitcoins you have to start mining and keep doing that for some time.

Just read here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=40.0

The Rock Trading Exchange forges its order books with bots, uses them to scam customers and is trying to appropriate 35000 euro from a forum member https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4975753.0
