Ok, since everyone here says that fucets are useless, they may give out some small amounts but if you use them right it may give some considerable amounts to start with.
First of all not everyone can just buy BTC, like myself. I'm a student and have a part time job as a waiter. Average wager in Serbia for waiters are about 140e, so I can't buy btc because I need to pay off school and live of something, so faucets come as a good alternative. Faucets gave me enough amount to start with untill I've got into it enough to come here and start with signature posts.
Second, they may give a fair amount as I said, like coinurl, coinad or visitbit (you can open multiple tabs with same btc adrress and watch ads that are about 10s 5x times faster, I've got about 5k satoshis in 10min) or dailybitcoins where you can adverstise or sell vouchers.
Also can provide enough amount to register at some cloud mining site like CEX.IO.
So don't just go around bashing how faucets are bad and spam with "Just buy them" because not everyone is able to like you. So let's all help beginners and people who need help. Thank you.

If you wish to get some Bitcoins just so you can have some and learn about the prococol and the network, then faucets are indeed a good way of starting out. Keep in mind though that the majority of Bitcoin faucets either restrict the casual user with a withdrawal threshold that can never be reached without sacrificing an inordinate amount of time, or give out amounts that are worth less than the fees it would cost to relay them in a new transaction. But in theory, yes, there are a few faucets that are good to start on. Tangentially, people who cannot afford to spend money on Bitcoins should not be doing so anyway. Bitcoins are a good investment, but so are stocks, yet no sane person would buy stocks if he/she didn't have the disposable income to do so. Going back on topic, Bitcoins are essentially a form of currency. Hence, the easiest way of amassing them -- far easier than tapping multiple faucets -- is to earn them the same way that any currency would generally be earned over the Internet. Personally, I think faucets are no longer necessary, and that perpetuating the misguided notion of "free money" by keeping faucets alive is only holding Bitcoin back from being treated like a real currency. |

I know its not easy foe everyone to just buy coins but it's very rare you can actually make anything worthwhile from faucets. You might be ok with the little you earn but I reckon there'll be a point in the future when you wished you hadntve wasted your time and spent it doing something more productive.

It may be a waste of time, if you have money to buy Bitcoins at the start or if you had services to render.
I got into bitcoins, because I was looking for a more secure and easy method to transact on the "Internet" So for me to use a eg. "credit card" to buy or trade, seemed risky and I decided to start small. Generating coin from Faucets, was a good start.
Do not write of faucets, everyone have their reasons for using them.
Example. A guy in a 3rd world country has access to free internet at a educational institution. He starts with faucets, then Signature programs, then trading and mining, when he has enough knowledge and coin to buy a rig.
Where would he have started, if he had no money at all?

Give someone a few satoshi's and actually have them start sending them around, they get interested, and it goes from there.
Obviously nobody is going to live off of a faucet, but they serve their purpose in my opinion.

Faucets are made with commercial purposes and also for newbies who dont know a lot about bitcoin so i advise you to try earn some coins with real jobs here or on reddit  BR |

You might just think bitcoin is a waste of time after you've wasted all that time and energy for dust. I dont think they harm the economy but they're hardly a a highlight of it. Everyone can realize on their own that there is no way to make a viable income using faucets. However they're not completely useless, or they wouldn't exist. Lots of newbies want to test their wallets out and therefore use faucets to begin with. There's a good compilation website with faucets and earn sites. How much do you actually earn from faucets per month let's say? Can't imagine it being more than a few dollars, or am I mistaken? |

How much do you actually earn from faucets per month let's say? Can't imagine it being more than a few dollars, or am I mistaken? As an owner or user? Either way a few dollars, yeah. |

I don't think the majority of faucet users use them during hours they could be working / going to school. However I'd agree that it's more profit efficient to even look for dropped change in the streets. |

I don't think the majority of faucet users use them during hours they could be working / going to school. However I'd agree that it's more profit efficient to even look for dropped change in the streets. There is something I can be doing at any time of the day to make money. People need to stop thinking about making money, and start thinking about providing value. |

Hey do'nt bash can picking  My son made decent money from can collection and selling scrap metal. Try doing that for a day, and see how tired you will be. It's good for the environment {Less trash} and it's getting re-cycled. And it's a source of income, for a lot of unemployed people in this world. Just a pity, some people take "trash 4 cash" to far, like stealing copper plumbing pipes to sell at scrap yards. But I am going off topic {sorry} If it was not for faucets, lots of poor people would have never been able to get into bitcoins imho. |
