Does anyone here get paid in Bitcoin?

I've been offered some freelance work (online marketing, google adwords, split testing etc) to be paid in bitcoin.

Does anyone here have experience with this? Do you sell the btc as soon as you receive it to pay for your rent, food etc. How do you deal with taxes? Would I have to pay capital gains tax and income tax?

Particularly interested in experiences in the UK.

A lot of people here are paid in Bitcoin. You'll find different type of colorful signatures against their posts

For me, I dont sell bitcoin. Its a medium of exchange for me. I mainly store it for future use and sometimes buy online services against it. If u listen to the first generation of bitcoiners, they'll tell u how they feel like encashing it once upon a time, when bitcoin was in 2 digit. Hold it, and u'll cherish when it'll be 4 or 5 digit down the line.

I'm being payed for the signature rent, I'm holding all the little gain because of the current low value and the huge future potential btc has.

Only on signature space, but not in my day job. For now I prefer taking the conventional fiat pay cheque.

I've tried to sell this for bitcoins on marketplaces, but nobody shows any interest.

Till date online services & digital goods are preferred to be sold on bitcoin marketplaces and there is a reason behind this. PayPal offers chargeback protection on tangible goods. But for services/digital goods u may face chargeback while using fiat over PayPal. Hence Bitcoin is preferred in this case...

Yes the site campaigns are doing payouts in btc which feels really nice.

I am using Coinurl for some of my blogs, and earning money in Bitcoin for displaying their ads. My blogs are not hardcore porn, and it comes in the border-zone. Coinurl does not permit porn sites.

I don't have job right now but in few months i'm gonna start company and will take bitcoin, fiat and some altcurrencies.

But i have read blogs, news and forumposts about people that get paid with bitcoin (either full btc or some of it as btc with rest being fiat).

And if ever will work for somebody then i'll ask if i can take my paycheck in btc

UK is just income tax, so dont worry your head about capital gains. just look at your yearly income and if its more then your tax free allowance then yes you have to pay income tax.

usually though one off payments of small amounts under £100 are not really worried about, and with the new laws recently about how HMRC can only raid your account if you have alot of tax debt and atleast a few £k in savings, most of the time they wont do much.

I haven't heard of many jobs which pay in Bitcoin that would be awesome. Unless Bitcoin suddenly become worthless and you would of put in a lot of work and lost a lot of money. but the moderators get paid a small amount for their duties.

I always ask for bitcoins first, and since I don't really spend them, I still have my first pay.

I'm pretty sure if any legitimate business with more than maybe 5 employees tried to pay any of their employees in Bitcoin in the UK their accountant would intervene.

I do get payed in Bitcoins but It's just like my extra job and I don't convert bitcoins to FIAT money I just keep them plus they are increaseing a lot now so that a good reason to keep your Bitcoins. My friend also does a job for bitcoins and he even pays for food and rent from the bitcoins that he earned but he converts them to FIAT just to pay for It. Bitcoin Is just not popular enough to pay for your rent or buy food yet.
