you still make more mining btc's with your gpu than ltc's so why would anyone bother wasting their gpu on ltc anyway?

They wouldn't but theoretically if this magic miner existed (and it likely doesn't) it will put a cap on profitability of cpu miners.

If payout is lower than Bitcoin nobody will GPU mine but if payout rises then miners will switch from Bitcoin to Litecoin exploding difficulty (and crushing revenue for CPU miners).

could be just a scam to scare people away from ltc

I assume everyone who called this a scam will but picking up some easy money at http://betsofbitco.in/item?id=292

Right?   Or did you call someone a fraud and a scammer for something you're not even sure about to put a little coin behind?

Some Newbie Thoughts
hi there I'm new here , been reading this forum for few weeks now.
I did not have a chance to mine btc myself due to lack of  hardware and cash to spend on it.
when I discovered LTc I thought it’s a good idea - CPU only - affordable for everyone, everyone can support this coin, open to the real  world not just to hardware freaks Tongue
But now I'm starting having big doubts ,if  Gpu mining is possible isn't against  LTC the whole idea behind it? Being silver? Being different?
If gpu mining is possible, LTc  becomes  nothing different then 4x amount of  btc
I’m not talking about prices here . I'm sure cpu miners  like me thought  that this coin may have future and is different than other Sh.. coins ,
that crypto currency can be supported by everyone not just by group of ppl knowing each other from this forum equipped with super hashing forces  .
But is it relay ?
If gpu mining is possible there is no need to use scrypt for it ?
Cpu mining will die soon , the  same people will harvest all of the coins again, currency will become limited to certain group again.
Difficulty will grow up rapidly , cpu mining become like solving 1000 captches / 20 cents , worthless
I don’t have big hashing power I barley mine 20 + coins a week not 0,000000blabla coin , but at least its look I’m doing something  and its giving me motivation for supporting  it not for making cash
Its makes me feel like I can be part of something important , part of fight about freedom we all want heh
why don't make it open to the world , and make real and useful
I’m starting to believe that all that  freedom bullshitting is just the cover for people who want to make quick bucks and not to create something different free from governments taxes and all of that crap
There is no big future for crypto currency with current design ,there is always way around it , 4 hours of coding can change everything
Hashing power determinate progress of the coin and this is wrong ,current design makes crypto currency limited and it will never be used in different places then exchanges.
And it will always be limited to small group of people whom have super duper smoking mining rigs

So how much have you put in at betsofbitcoin?  Such certainty was surely matched by a large bet, no?

You'll make more BTC per kWh doing that than any CPU mining converted to BTC.

LTC was never Bitcoin's sliver.  Bitcoin is Bitcoin's silver.  Think about why multiple metals existed in coins and you will find the claim of Bitcoin needing a silver to be bogus.

The good news is that if this miner exists (which it likely doesn't) it doesn't really change anything.

Only twenty-two words and he managed to include three punctuation errors, one massive misspelling on his key concept, and completely misused the ellipsis.

Reads like RS/CH/Douchebag sock-puppetry to me.

Coinhunter can mostly form complete sentences. Psy is probably a discrete entity (albeit one with the writing skills of a third grader).

I am sure there is plenty of fisting involved in their relationship, just not of the sockpuppet variety.  Grin

I hope GPU mining is not taking place ....

if so,  later litecoin.

and mining in general for me, until another CPU mined coin arises.

and mining in general for me, until another CPU mined coin arises.

SolidCoin has a custom hashing algorithm designed to closely match modern consumer hardware, both CPU and GPU. Watt for watt they get similar performance on SolidCoin hashing. Litecoin on the other hand was put together by Artforz using "off the shelf" components which turned out to be a bad move (or good if you like GPU mining a chain). This being said until SolidCoin price is over $1 most people won't be able to make a profit mining it so something like Litecoin still has a place for anyone wanting to get BTC using their CPU unless a GPU miner becomes public.

As far as I'm aware in my last talks with mtrlt the litecoin GPU miner is only 10-20x faster than CPUs. Which is less compared to a GPU mining bitcoin 100x faster than a CPU. According to coinotron litecoin mining is 2.4x more profitable than mining SolidCoin which seems odd to me, given our recent economic changes made our cost of production over $1 and we are about 18x away from being profitable yet!

You can calculate it here, http://solidcoin.info/profit-calculator.html

Try SolidCoin or talk with other SolidCoin supporters here SolidCoin Forums
