If you look at the chart in the OP you'll see that it is only about 30 years until the majority (6 million) of the coins are mined. By that time the block reward will be so small that it will literally take hundreds of years to reach 7,000,000 SCQ. The reason for the long block halving time of 4 years is to keep mining available in order to keep the block chain active far into the future. The small reward of 1 coin per block is to simply provide rarity to the coin. |
