Too bad this isn't true. I was hoping it was.
Everything said here is true, he's just not accepting it 'directly'.

Too bad this isn't true. I was hoping it was.

WTF man? The news is true and 50 cent is actually selling his latest album for Bitcoin (through the processor Bitpay). It is true that he is not directly accepting Bitcoin, but you can buy his album for BTCs.

no 50cent is not selling his album for bitcoins.

his record company is PUBLICISING the record in RELATION to bitcoins.. yes
his record company is using SHOPIFY to sell the record
Shopify are using bitpay to accept bitcoins..

but all in all
50cent receives FIAT from record company
record company receives FIAT from Shopify
Shopify receives FIAT from Bitpay

the distance between 50cent and bitcoins financially is 3 companies apart.. its only th publicity stunt, also known as advertising that has a direct link to the name 50 cent, not the person

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

It might be 3 companies apart, but it's still closer than any other world famous artist. :p

Source: http://www.coindesk.com/50-cent-bitcoin-payments-new-album-animal-ambition/

50 Cent’s Shopify store will accept bitcoin payments for the new release, with BitPay acting as the payments processor.
So that is very cool I think more and more artists are accepting bitcoins.

I think alot of people have grown up with 50 cents music like his song in da club.
But what would be really cool, if they give the people that buy bitcoin a signed copy of his album.

just something like that so it would also attract new people to Bitcoin.
Or do you think this news will just make people buy bitcoin that listen to 50 cent?

The actual sales of albums will likely have very little effect on the acceptance of bitcoin.

The positive of this news is that it will create more awareness about bitcoin.

Meh. I've been accepting bitcoin directly for one of my albums for just shy of two years.

https://www.coindl.com/page/item/293

OK, so I don't have quite as high a profile as Fitty.

Hmm... maybe I oughta reprice that sucker. It was a good value at the time I put it up. XD

Good, maybe 50cent doesn't even know a bean about Bitcoins but i think things like this increase it's popularity both Bitcoin and the Artist, i

as a musician, am personally glad of this because Bitcoin opens an endless lot of opportunities for us.

Those are some steep prices. 650 dollars for 12 songs? I guess at the time you put it up it was more like 10.  Grin

Somewhere about $8, if memory serves.

Wait - I mean - hey! It charted and all! Gotta be worth it. ;^)

I'll update it when I get the time to work through the CoinDL interface again.

I tried putting some tracks for sale on Coindl but kept getting told to re upload them so I gave up (last year).

For those interested, you can sell your tracks on Soundcloud for bitcoin (or doge/ltc etc) by using a site called Coinlock. You upload the track to Coinlock then use the link you get from them on Soundcloud on your song listing. You have to enter all the record label/ release date BS but once you have done that you will have a nice button/ link under your track saying something like "buy now with bitcoin!".

Now, I haven't sold any tracks to know that Coinlock works but it seemed pretty "legit", be your own label!

P.S. ofc it would be much better not to have a centralize company holding your tracks but it's still early days.

It's good PR for sure and shows that 50Cent has brains
Not sure if this is a big deal for adoption though
Will fans adopt just because their heroes are given the obstacles that exist to acquiring and securing btc?

It's a big deal for my adoption of 50 Cent. Don't think I've bought a rap Album since N.W.A.

If 50 cent starts to keep his coin he can collaborate with ytcracker https://soundcloud.com/ytcracker and do a remake of Bitcoin Baron https://soundcloud.com/ytcracker/ytcracker-bitcoin-baron-v1-ssl  Wink

Well he's not really accepting bitcoins is he? He's accepting cash, and letting you give him cash via BitPay.

none the less, its nice to see any bitcoin related press/exposure.
bitcoin is still young, but of all the others investment opertunities, it seams to be blooming the best Smiley

This. And Laxori666 does not really know what 50cent is doing with the bitcoin sales of his album. He already has a lot of money and would not necessarily need to convert it to fiat right away.

May be. He has already done similar shit with the penny stock (HNHI). He might stash quite a few coins, and then urge his Twitter followers to do the same, just like what he did with HNHI.
