I recently bought four business-class airline tickets with bitcoin through cheapair.com because I needed to travel urgently on a weekend and I couldn't transfer FIAT from my bank account to my credit card because the banks were shut.

Cheapair were awesome. Expedia, for the hotel, not so much. Took two goes to book it after having to spend an hour on the phone explaining to the guy that, yes, they do accept bitcoin for hotel bookings now even if his employer hasn't told him about it yet. The first attempt to book the room saw Expedia lose the room before the transaction had completed (!) and, because I'd already sent the bitcoin, I had to find out how to get it back. Turns out you get it back automatically through Coinbase emailing you about it.

I actually funded the weekend stay in London with bitcoin, but through VRC's VeriBIT service at a couple of bitcoin ATM's while I was there.

VRC>BTC>GBP in one transaction. Sweet.
