I am selling a mint condition Casascius Bitcoin. This is a very rare piece, Casascius no longer sells them. You might want to have this moved to the Auction forum if you're requesting bids.

I'd ask for a lot less for this non-error, non-graded Casascius v2 1 BTC Brass.  The error ones are going for what you're asking.

All Casascius coins goes for a high premium these days, especially the first batch (the "error coin"), the reason for the high price is that it is a collectable.
You have to be a collector or a fan of Mike's work to appreciate the coins.

As for the duplicates  - they have already been spotted on ebay:

The possibility of a fake is definitely something you should be aware of as a collector. Nevertheless I have only seen one case for Casascius coins.

I followed the case about the fake 25 BTC here on the forum - there was basically two forum members with the same coin (same public key).
Mike helped verify which member who owned the right coin.

I have seen one case for Smoothies coins (the 25 LTC), but it is more a cheap knock off than a copy.

I would like to chime in here, if I may...

I am the original owner of this coin, and I have entrusted it to "TheBestBTCDeals" to sell for me for a % commission of the proceeds. I buy all my digital BTC from him for MoneyPaks and Vanilla Reloads and we regularly text each other directly and communicate outside of the forums. In fact, I owe him some trust/feedback for the smooth and successful transactions.

For the sake of being honest, I would like to correct something... the coin isn't in "true" mint condition. It has been handled before and was not kept in an air-tight case; it spent most of its life sitting in a little wooden box on a shelf out of sight. But with a little brass polish and a soft cloth you can make it shine as brightly as it did on the day of its minting... It's undamaged and has no visible defects.

When Mike Caldwell (aka Casascius) created his coins, he put the first chunk of the Bitcoin address on the back so users could verify that the coin still held its denominated face value in BTC. You can see this quite clearly on the back of the coin:

Using this string, you can search the Casascius database to ensure the coin is still unredeemed:

As you can see, the coin is still "Active" and unredeemed. The string "1CsDFTqA" is the abbreviation of the address:

And as the OP demonstrated, this address can be verified by blockchain.info to hold a value of 1.00 BTC:

This should clearly demonstrate it is authentic, not a counterfeit or copy of Casascius' work. And that the coin is unredeemed and still holds its original 1.00 BTC value! This is also apparent in the picture of the back which shows the anti-tamper hologram. If these holograms are peeled it leaves behind a honeycomb-like pattern that is plain to see. But this coin's hologram has never been peeled and is still completely in tact.

I wouldn't class that as 'Mint' myself. Looks quite from from it to be honest. Have you kept it in a airtite since buying it?

Based on condition, and the fact this is a v2 (non-error), I would guestimate this worth about 1.2 btc. 

I think asking 2.5 btc is much too high.  But of course, you are free to list it at the price you want.

Condition is actually great. Just needs a bit of cleaning/shining. 1.20 BTC seems a little low/harsh... but I'm no expert. I'm discussing lowering the price with the OP.

This is very true. Especially if you are not familiar with the proper technique, and even then it's still not a great idea. Most of the time it will just make things worse.

NEVER clean a collectible coin! That kills any numismatic value. That goes for gold coins, silver coins, copper pennies, Casascius coins, etc... If you clean a 1 BTC Casascius coin, you might as well just redeem it for the 1 BTC.

Anyways, while this coin indeed is not a 2011 error coin, it *is* a 2012 coin, which is a good deal rarer than the 2013 brass issues. Personally, I'd price it between the 2013s and 2011s, accounting for condition (which perspective buyers can do for themselves), of course.

1.2 BTC is too low, but thanks for the offer. I am planning on insuring it and it can be shipped anywhere, but obviously I would lose money if I did all that and accepted such a low offer. 1.5 BTC is pretty much the minimum.

The coin has been sold for 140.00 DRK (Darkcoin), which is currently equivalent to ~2.50 BTC or $1,497.00 USD. It was a good bit less at the time the agreement was made (around 2.03 BTC), but the new masternode launch is mere hours away and DRK/BTC is on the rise.

I'm totally confident you could have sold it for me, but I just kinda got lucky and found that "perfect deal". As I said, I was looking for either some DRK or some BTC to buy more DRK, and it just so happened that I got a very generous offer of 140.00 DRK from a highly trustworthy early adopter and major holder of DRK.
