Just wondering what browser addons  + extensions folks use for security related purposes..

I use firefox + do not track + https everywhere + noscript.

kind of like what you get with Tor browser bundle.

I think do not track works pretty well.. no script gets used to, but its great in the long run.

Anything I am missing Huh

I think these " do not track + https everywhere + noscript." are Firefox security related addons. He is asking what addons others use for this.

Would recommend using Ghostery and Self Destructing Cookies.

Use Disconnect to stop everyone from tracking you. I use Disconnect Https+noscript with Firefox and always prefer Private Window Mode

Do these extensions/addons really provide any protection, I don't use any of them and now I think maybe I should.

What sort of attacks or privacy do these provide?

I'm lazy and only use addblock, but not in all browsers I use. Not sure if can be considered a security extension, but it block some adds with virus, so..

When I want anonymity and not be tracked, I just go to tor browser bundle.

do no track (or similar) stops sites tracking you via cookies and other means, it also gives you a real but wierd email account.. so you dont have to use your own.

noscript blocks javascript, its a pain at times, but u get used to it.

https everywhere makes you go via https where possible..

adblock stops ads

foxpop: what does refcontrol do ?

basically all of the above, except adblock and refcontrol is included with tor browser bundle, but i use them on my normal pc with firefox. makes me feel somwhat safer Smiley wasn't a fan but now i quite like them. but yeah noscript can be annoying if you are abit of a novice (and forget its on lol)

On Chrome the only two non google extensions I'm currently using are Reddit Enhancement Suite(which is a must imo if you read reddit) and KryptoKit which is pretty great for bitcoin stuff and sending and receiving encrypted messages. Not that I have much to talk about that needs to be encrypted, but to have the option if the need were to arise is nice to have.

There's a eff tool that checks how unique and trackabe your browser is. Surely an interesting test to take.

https://panopticlick.eff.org

Also for extra privacy you could use disconnect search.
