I answered depends - it depends on whether or not the threat was a credible threat. "ill kill u lolol" on an Internet forum != a 100-kg man walking up to you in the streets at night and demanding your money or your life.

Argumentum ad lunam: the fallacy that because Bitcoin's price is rising really fast the currency must be a speculative bubble and/or Ponzi scheme.

A threat to kill is always an offensive act in and of itself.

The obvious answer is "No," but there will always be exception cases (primarily plays/performances. Angry shouting spouses will need to assess for themselves how serious the threat was after cooling down, but if we're going to have laws, I wouldn't be too bothered by a law that even punished such a "heat of the moment" statement.)

Bitcoin is the ultimate freedom test. It tells you who is giving lip service and who genuinely believes in it.
... ... In the future, books that summarize the history of money will have a line that says, “and then came bitcoin.” It is the economic singularity. And we are living in it now. - Ryan Dickherber... ... ATTENTION BFL MINING NEWBS: Just got your Jalapenos in? Wondering how to get the most value for the least hassle? Give BitMinter a try! It's a smaller pool with a fair & low-fee payment method, lots of statistical feedback, and it's easier than EasyMiner! (Yes, we want your hashing power, but seriously, it IS the easiest pool to use! Sign up in seconds to try it!)... ... The idea that deflation causes hoarding (to any problematic degree) is a lie used to justify theft of value from your savings.

The Communists say, equal labour entitles man to equal enjoyment. No, equal labour does not entitle you to it, but equal enjoyment alone entitles you to equal enjoyment. Enjoy, then you are entitled to enjoyment. But, if you have laboured and let the enjoyment be taken from you, then – ‘it serves you right.’ If you take the enjoyment, it is your right.

The actual question is what "OK" means, and whether situations exist where it is correct to do things not considered "OK".
A less extreme example: I don't think it is OK to steal. But if someone's life depends on me stealing some cheap object, of course I will do it, and figure out means of compensation afterward. Real life has an incredible amount of possible situations, it shouldn't be hard to think up one in which a death threat is appropriate.

Threatening is not doing... does that make it "OK"?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Theory_of_Communicative_ActionTo cut the long story short. Communication is action. So your assumption: "Threatening is not doing" is symply wrong. In somewhat other words: Threaten to kill me could easily kill you. Its questing the law of supply and demand. Others go to gym for relaxing whilst I chop firewood. So my axe is never far away plus I am skilled in using it. Guess what, for me it would be fine as self defense is legal around here. Even better, a knife with a blade less than an inch could be considered an illicit weapon though my chopper is not, it´s a tool not but never weapon. ... aggreed totally confusing! But ok for me.

You can only threaten to do what you have the right to do. You don't have the right to kill me. Therefore, you can't threaten to kill me. You have the right to tell my dirty secrets. Therefore, you have the right to threaten to tell my dirty secrets.

... You should only say “I’m going to kill you” if you really mean it ...
Why that? Would talking help in such a case?

Why that? Would talking help in such a case? Well - it's a courtesy, which shows compassion. Telling someone you'll murder them is not just OK, it's admirable. The murderer is giving up the element of surprise to tell the victim truth.
