Just like how FINCEN deems bitcoin as "money" but the IRS wants to tax it as property.

Makes no sense at all.

IIRC, eBay makes you put it in Classified Ads, which is a place where PayPal isn't.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

If the notarized document specified Paypal USD, then you are probably free to take the risk of accepting Credit cards through another gateway or merchant account...of coarse we already know that has extreme risk for reversed transaction fraud.

PayPal sucks for eBay/Crypto transactions.

1. Your account could be locket.
2. You will loose all of the buyer disputes and loose a lot of money.

But it's OK to sell cex.io or similar vouchers.
Because BTC are allowed only as Classified Ads, and not as regular listings.

Did they say why they wanted you to sign such a statement? This sounds like someone was somehow scamming you, but I am not sure what the angle is

You still can. But usually the seller is the fucked person. Because of a lot of scammers using stolen PayPals.
And PayPal >99% is resolving the disputes in gain for scammers.

Well, paypal will never agreed to have business with a better and direct competitor, bitcoin can easily make paypal obsolete.. thats the reason.

eBay is safe if you are buying as you have a lot of consumer protections. Selling on the other hand is not so safe as buyers can easily scam you

It is confusing to me too. I think it is technically possible that eBay can accept bitcoin as payment without paypal, or eBay can start a new subsidiary to handle bitcoin payments alongside paypal. eBay owns paypal, so they can make changes if and when they need to.

It is still anyone's guess at the moment, eBay CEO has hinted enough times in interviews about bitcoin integration, but has failed to give any details on how it will be implemented.

You would pay for your goods when you win an auction in bitcoin to the seller. The transaction would not involve paypal

Agree about the selling part, its so easy for buyers to scam the sellers. The biggest tips for sellers is to send everything they sell with a tracking number
