There was some hack possible using those profile pics, that is why they are disabled.

when the new forum software is implemented, i am pretty sure we will regain the ability to add/change avatars again. but i recall that price tag on that being > $1 million.

But I will answer some questions. ... The $350,000 was just a down payment or the full amount owed? If it is not the full amount how much more could this end up costing us? The total cost will probably be around $1 million. The $350,000 covers several months of work, after which I will evaluate the performance of Slickage Studios and choose whether or not to continue. In any case, the code will be open source, so no work will be lost. |

While it would be nice, the risks just aren't worth it. Personally, I like them because it's much easier to spot a persons post, but I guess that can also be accomplished by putting some text in the Forum Profile Information field. |
