The wiki has been updated to reflect the fact that drugs are not allowed. So this thread/poll can be closed.

By who's authority? Any more info on how this dispute was resolved? Given the level of interest I think a little more explanation would be warranted. A bald one-line, corpro-speak, statement like that just serves to sow resentment.

This is a sad turn of events. I can't see why anyone who wants to interfere with peoples business are interested in an anonymous currency.
What's next on the chopping block? Gambling sites? VPN? Socks? ..

Okay, thanks, you seem quite emphatic so I'll take your word for it. He's entitled to do that, just wondered if you had any other info? Edit: here's what the wiki says "Products or services illegal in US or Japan are not fit to be listed here - such links will be removed immediately. Any attempt to get those links up again will result in the account being blocked. " Makes one wonder what they'll do if bitcoin itself is made illegal, will they allow drug links again?

I still haven't gotten an answer to this question: is it legal to share the information? If so, what is the wiki for if not to share legal information? Assuming the information is legal to share, I think the wiki should be as neutral as possible. Filtering out information because it might interfere with some agenda seems like anything but. Of course, if sharing the information is illegal then definitely no.
Again, assuming it's legal to share the information, we should probably start a new wiki that isn't controlled by a single personal agenda and simply make available all the information that is within the legal limits.

It is sad, that we care about PR that much. The poll clearly indicates that community wanted to keep those links. I think it's a huge mistake and in the long run bitcoin economy will suffer because of this decision.

PR matters, if you care about bitcoin being successful.

PR matters, if you care about bitcoin being successful. 1. I'm not saying it doesn't 2. If it comes to ultimatum between PR and freedom of information I choose freedom of information, as majority of this community judging by the poll results. I hope I am wrong, but I think this will damage our economy and image in the long run. How can we advocate anonymity and freedom if these are the exact things we are banning??? This is disgraceful!!!

Well it is totally in the owners right to do this, but I hope he chances the wiki name to "The Bitcoin Neconservative Wiki" and someone else puts up a "Bitcoin Libertarian Wiki". Also, I hope someone removes all links to Bitcoin exchangers who do not require ID verification, because this is certainly illegal under US law.
Also, good luck with the strategy of trying to convert Neoconservatives to Bitcoin. I am sure that they will jump at the opportunity to buy some strange services with some weird currency that might be illegal to use in the USA in the first place. Much better idea to ban all of the drug users and dealers who were going to cause your economy to actually be used for something useful. Hopefully you convert McDonalds to Bitcoin please keep me updated on how that goes.

Also in addition to drugs and bitcoin exchangers who do not follow know your customer rules, the links to gambling sites must also be removed as those are illegal in the USA. So who will step up and make a free wiki for us? Maybe I should buy a server.

If the server is in USA it is not legal to link to websites that sell illegal drugs, and the owner could technically be charged with the same drug crimes as the vendors he links to under the Ryan Haight act passed a few years ago. If this is the case, I sympathize with admins choice. If the server is in Japan, there is no such law and not allowing links only shows his lack of a backbone. I suggest that someone buys a server in Russia or some other place like that and puts up a Wiki that respects everyones freedom. I am done using the Fascist Wiki, although I do respect it is admins right to do whatever he wants with it.

So essentially, magicaltux both:
1. Runs the primary currency exchange
2. Runs the primary information exchange
I'm not sure how I feel about this as a long-term situation. And I don't have any opinion one way or the other about his reputation or ability to competently fill both these rolls, but perhaps it's not a good idea to have all the eggs in one basket.

MagicalTux also runs KalyHost, which is used by many Bitcoin sites. I'm not worried that he'll abuse his power, but maybe KalyHost will be forced offline.

Don't trust "BBOD The Best Futures Exchange"

MagicalTux: The entire point of a wiki is collaboration, and it's clear that many people are upset at this censorship. Someone brought up the idea of an R-rated wiki Trade page, and a regular wiki Trade page. Are you willing to do that? Just don't link to the R-rated page from any 'official' sites or other wiki pages. Initially I suppose porn + drugs should go there.

All posts by me after 2012 were a compromised account. Probably by "BBOD The Best Futures Exchange". SORRY Y'ALL

Congratulations, you've managed to scare the guy before he receives any serious, concrete threat. Nice job spreading fear.

To comply with the law, it needs to be an R-rated site, separate from the official wiki.
