Great! The server is on wifi in a VM. Tomorow, I will move a backup to another server not in a VM with direct access to LAN. Connection should get better.

Just removed the fee's on my pool.
If I do add fees back, I'll let everyone know a month in advance.

I think it is the end of centralized pool mining as we knew it. With over 100% return, there is just no point at not switching imo.

I will be moving the server today so hopefully downtime will be short.

Well, 01BTC10, You inspired me. I threw up a p2pool node on my VPS, if anyone wants to mine with me!

Code:
Los Angeles, California::USA::http://litep2pool.sytes.net:9327/::%0.25::LTC::LiteP2Pool::Tittiez

Its in LA, but I live in PA and still have ~90ms latency, so it should be good all around North America. I don't really take much of a fee (.25 of 1%), as I will be doing my own mining here myself. Payouts work like any other p2pool node! Its LTC only, so don't be pointing your BTC address here.

Website:  http://litep2pool.sytes.net/

I think I can guarantee 99% uptime, other then when I say that I will be taking it down for maintenance of sort.

How are you handling payouts?
Pool functionality is built in to p2pool. You set the fee with the -f (or --fee) option.

If a worker connects with a valid address as username, their payout goes to that address.

If a username is not a valid address, the payout goes to the address that that instance of p2pool is using.

If you've set up p2pool, you've done everything you need to do!

Ok, I'll post my pool now that I've fixed up some performance issues with it...

http://blockexplorer.funkymonkey.org:9335   (using host name because it is a residential isp and address can change)
0% fee because I'm still testing and am merge mining with it
Location: Brampton, Ontario, Canada

As with all previous posts, use your bitcoin address as your username - anything for a password.  The bitcoin address you specify is the address payouts will be sent to for shares found by your miners when the pool finds a block.

I do from time to time bring down the server for a few minutes at a time to update the p2pool software.  I will try to reserve mid-day Sundays 12:00 (est -5 gmt / edt -4 gmt) for updates.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Format: Brampton/Ontario::Canada::blockexplorer.funkymonkey.org:9335::0%::BTC::FunkyMonkey Pool::tiker

Well done! If a lot of people start their own node.  Decentralization of the coin will happen. It will be beneficial for all miners around the world.

Had some trouble with my p2pool node on the old (0.5.2) version of bitcoin - kept crashing randomly every 30-40 minutes  Huh
Upgraded to 0.6 rc3 and everything seems to be working now:

Server info:
Leeds::UK::195.234.11.101:9332::0%::BTC::P2P-Bit::Shadow383
Interesting. Tomorrows the big switch anyways, so it's probably a good thing more and more are switching.

We should create a custom mining script that uses all of the pools in this thread (picking one at random for example) and using the others as a failover.
Could be an easy+convenient way to bring more gh/s to p2pool mining.

Shadow383,

I think it is better if miners can choose the entry points that are closer to them instead of a random one on the other side of the world.

True, true.
Any suggestions on promoting p2pool and these nodes?

Rather than a script, a website that allows people to add their pools, locations, fees, etc.

Run some scripts that query the pools now and then to verify they're still up and running, fees haven't been changed, etc.

Point people to that site, fill in what they're looking for in a search field (based on location or fees or whatever)

Spit out the results.

Promote the site - links in your signatures, links from the official p2pool thread and wiki pages.

It'd be nice if all the servers could be pinged also. I've tried pinging all the servers in this topic, but a few couldn't be reached. So far P2PMining.com is still the best for me at ~60ms.

Updated OP. Thanks Shadow383.

For Bitcoin to be a true global currency the value of BTC needs always to rise.
If BTC became the global currency & money supply = 100 Trillion then ⊅1.00 BTC = $4,761,904.76.
