Ninja-OCNer... probably for good reason.  I wouldn't want to get on this crowd's bad side.  They're all leagues smarter than I am.  Tongue

every thread about bitcoin gets closed by management.. what a bunch of tools.

Protoblock turns knowledge of American football into Fantasybit coin, a margin token used to monetize leveraged skill.

I suppose my wording was a bit ambiguous.  What I meant was, I wouldn't want to get on the Bitcoin crowd's bad side.  And the Bitcoin crowd is all leagues smarter than I am.

Really all the overclocking forums are like this. If you see cheesy images or numerous lines of variously-sized and colored text in the signatures of the users, you can bet the community is clueless and absolute trash.

I've never encountered a forum worth belonging to where users with large images in their sigs weren't a) banned, b) moderated, or c) subject to a campaign of ostracism and/or mocking.  When checking out a forum that looks interesting, that is one of the things I look for.

I will have you all note that the 26th, the day this thread was posted, was also the day of the start of the rally that brought us up above $3.00.  Publicity FTW?

As an update.

Due to a recent decision from the management team on Overclock.net we now will no longer support the discussion of Bitcoin or any other elements of it.

The Use of Bitcoin breaches our TOS as you can use Bitcoin to earn currency. It specifically states in the OCN TOS that you may not Directly or Indirectly profit from the use of OCN. As such we cannot support the Bitcoin project. We also feel that the Bitcoin project does not fit in with goals we strive for on OCN.

We have nothing against the Bitcoin project, it simply does not fit the purpose and goals of Overclock.Net
What a bunch of bullocks.  Screw OCN.  6000+ posts and 4 years later, I'm leaving.  Sick of the crap that they pull.

I can understand not advertising about your own websites to some extent.  But not allowing discussion of Bitcoins because you can make money from it?  Seriously?

BTW, the PRIMARY motivation of OCN for doing this is to keep everyone on the site folding@home - it has nothing to do with the actual bitcoin discussion.  OCN is one of the top ranked communities for folding, and I'm sure they don't want to see their ranking drop because a bunch of folders switched over to bitcoining.   Roll Eyes

Bye-bye OCN.

Guess people can't ask for advice on building their video editing/CAD/software development boxes either then...

Yeah... OCN is obviously fearing a hit to their folding e-peen.

I too came for the OCN article about this and to be honest over there they made a big mistake by not allowing bitcoins to remain on discusions there. It made me lose a lot of respect for the website but I will in fact still use it though, but no posting for me.

Dear GOD/GODS and/or MEMBERS OF SUPER-INTELLIGENT ALIEN CIVILIZATIONS: Please let CHAUL JHIN KIM win the NEW ZEALAND POWERBALL JACKPOT. The last post, as of my reading, is my favorite.  The very last bit is the best:

Quote
While my GTX 570 sleeps at night, you guys are making barely 3$.
3$ minus electricity minus bandwith.
Now is it worth using your GPU for hours in rows just to get 3$ ?
What about hardware degradation ?

Even more that you don't even know what they are actually doing on your GPU.
If they have access to your GPU and your internet, what tells you that they aren't playing in your computer ?

Tell yourself something, why would you pay someone to MINE on their computer ?
I would pay someone to get punched because I would enjoy the scene.
But in this case there is something wrong for sure.
Even if it works and it is not an hacker fetching your data, at a mere 3$ per day, which is 24 hours, how long do you think your graphic card can go ?
Enjoy your free cofee and muffin at Mc donald's everyday.
I wouldn't be skeptical if you only needed a program, but after reading the steps, there is something wrong.

I'm not against this, there are just some weird questions going on here.
And again, 3$ a day ... 90$ a month ...
Does it worth it ?
