What are you trying to achive with this coin?
The best this coin can possibly do is hold its niche's interest for a couple of days. Market cap equal to a six-pack of cider, maybe?

http://whc.pool.mn/ added to pool list. Pre-register at one of our pools now! What are you trying to achive with this coin?
WoodChuckHardCider is a coin meant to pay homage and bring attention to this awesome Vermont-made drink. Hard apple cider is one of the tastiest alcoholic drinks, and yet it seems to never get the respect it deserves. This coin aims to change that by attaching the Woodchuck name to a legitimate and modern cryptocurrency with a potential for success in the constantly churning altcoin world. Through our bounties we hope to attract online games and businesses to promote the Woodchuck brand and Hard Cider in general.

woodchuck is by far the best cider I have had. Thanks to Jessica the cute waitress at Jack Astors for brining it to me by mistake! I will mine this just for fun. What you guys should do is come out with a android wallet and allow woodchuck retialors to discount the sale of cider by paying say 10% of the price of a pint with Woodchuck coin.
Great Cider

What about switching to X15? That's the taste of the week it seems.
Put up some big bounties for anon, encrypted SMS and maybe an on-line market or something like Voot says they'll do.
I'm going to keep an eye on this one. It is a wierd niche but if it is well run with a plan (the usual anon stuff, X15, encrypted SMS, etc.) it might go somewhere. Look at Gorillacoin which still somehow hasn't dirt-dived despite having no plan, no known brand and no reason to exist. ( I missed that train because I thought it would derail a mile from the station ... Such is life. ). If the devs execute seriously behind the funny logo they could have something. If this is just some random guy tossing out a joke coin for shits and giggles then it will fade away a day after launch.

Thanks for the input. Bounties have been added for Anon and SMS. If it is not enough, perhaps we can get community donations at some point in the future for these bounties. X15 may come at a future point if the community demands it. Some may write WHC off as a joke, but our devs never joke about hard cider. As stated in a previous post, we sincerely want to bring attention to this drink through a legitimate and forward-thinking currency. This is not a pump and dump scam coin, we are going to support this long term. To ensure its long term existence, however, we also need marketing. I personally have been in contact with some coin promoters through pm's and such, and would ask anyone who will be mining to do anything they can to contribute as well.

Thanks for listening. I'm an investor and feel pre-Darkcoin tingles about this coin (if everything is executed tightly). 1.) If it were me I'd raise the bounties for anon and SMS 10x. Those are hard-core functions that guys will want money for. 2.) As much as I hate even typing this you might want to up the premine (I can't believe I wrote that ... my soul hurts). More bucks means better programmers and quick execution. There will be heavy trolling re the pre-mine but quick dev response can handle that. 3.) Gorillacoin didn't have a pre-mine and now they can't deliver on their promised SMS/Anon features it seems. 4.) I'd reduce the number of coins, Gorilla has 4,500,000 I think. It was enough for miners to be happy and to snatch them a nice valuation. 5.) I don't know your background so I might be preaching to the choir about marketing but IMO marketing is a waste of time for an altcoin. If you guys get big you'll get added to general bitcoin/altcoin payment processors. Some banks have Visa cards that link into Altcoin blockchains. To stores the transaction is just another Visa debit card. This kind of stuff only happens when a coin gets Darkcoin or Dogecoin big. Until then, you're the only market is miners, investors, speculators and pump/dumpers (a necessary evil as long as the dump doesn't go below the pump). The only exposure that matters is Bitcointalk, Coinmarketcap and maybe Reddit. 6.) Also a final point: You all should identify yourselves publicly. The top alts have devs who let people know who they are despite the privacy problems. They loose privacy but gain Lambos ... 7.) Test out everything before the launch; nothing worse than a launch fail. I don't mean to lecture; I'm not a programmer, just an investor/speculator looking for the next big thing. What about switching to X15? That's the taste of the week it seems.

I remember hearing that the bigger exchanges (Mintpal, Bittrex, Polo, Cryptsy) will not add any coins that have a potential copyright infringement.. What are your plans to get around this so we can trade our coin and buy some cold beers/ciders?

Test out everything before the launch; nothing worse than a launch fail. I don't mean to lecture; I'm not a programmer, just an investor/speculator looking for the next big thing. The only way to up the bounty for anon/sms is either to up the premine or ask for community donations. For obvious reasons, I'm not too comfortable with either at the moment, seeing as a low premine is vital to miner adoption and we have no idea how large our community will be, plus we don't want to be seen as asking for anything (could easily be fud'ed as scamming). May up the premine to 1% and put all those coins to the anon feature. If that is still not enough, we may post a public address once we have a working blockchain and use that if anyone wants to donate. The number of PoW coins is only 1,600,000. That is less than half of the 4.5 million PoW coins Guerillacoin has. WoodChuckHardCider has a max of 80 million but that won't be reached for years, since it will be PoS. As far as marketing, you may be right but it would be top notch if we could get a hard cider supplier to accept WHC, even if it is a local homebrew store. Will mine this for fun. I brew 10 gallons of home brew every other week. I will accept CiderCoin for beer . Not really looking to make a profit or anything love crypto and love brewing beer. Hopefully we can build a community around all of this I have brewed a batch of cider or two in my time If you would be willing to set up a site that accepts WHC, we would be happy to add you to the op! I remember hearing that the bigger exchanges (Mintpal, Bittrex, Polo, Cryptsy) will not add any coins that have a potential copyright infringement.. Haven't seen that for sure but the Doge image is definitely the intellectual property of whoever took the photo. A slim-to-none chance of being sued in no way changes that fact. I am no lawyer but it seems that since the IRS declared Bitcoin an asset, not a currency, and the original coins are being dispersed freely to anyone who wants to mine; I would think the Fair Use Doctrine applies here.

Again, thanks for listening. For all of the coins with which I have had success, the key point was a developer who was around and acknowledged the community. Thanks for listening. I agree here. We should change the name to woodchuckcoin or something. We still focus on a coin for cider beer. Essentially, there are three ways to avoid or defend yourself against a copyright infringement suit if you are using someone else material: ask for permission, prove that your work falls under First Amendment free speech protection, or show that it is fair use. One of the ways to use the fair use defense is to show that your work is a parody or satirical in nature.

How does everyone feel about changing the name to 'HardCider'? We can still keep the WHC currency code. We will change the startup splashscreen to Gibcity's image on page 2. Gibcity, pm me and we can set up some coins for you.

I think you'd better change the Name ...because there is no such thing as "fair use" when it come down to outright copyright infringement. You have no right to attempt to sell, use, offer or profit upon someone else's intellectual property. Just because your a fan ....try that with Coca Cola coin and see how far you get. Anyone who mines or invests in a copyright infringing coin will lose in the long run. So yes to Hard Cider Coin (generics are no problem) and NO to WoodChuckHardCider coin an infringing name destined to get into legal trouble coin .....Consult an attorney for the possibly damages you may incur if you don't believe it.
