My phone is over 2 years old so that wouldn't have helped anyway.

yea, it costs that much. You didn't say which one you have. Lock the thread if your problem is solved.

I bought new laptop lately and now it can't find my phone, so I can't jailbreak it or even connect it to iTunes.

Are you running the latest itunes.
Have you searched google, what have you tried to let it discover your phone?
Have you rebopted it while it's plugin in.

Is there a jailbreak for your OS version?

I never needed apple care and I've fixed many of "bricked" OS devices, not sure if you have to pay for it but if you do, I would stay away!

Everything you need is on google, also search on youtube.
