Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Holy cow. I thought it would be a bit longer before they implemented it - guess Overstock accepting it was a big turning point for them. Well it's nice to see more major retailers takig Bitcoin seriously, the more merchants there are the more consumers will be interested in it and possibly begin using it.

Great but we are still far from the customer adoption tipping point

I will reserve my opinion until after I see BTC prices on newegg's site.
Until we see exact prices in BTC, we don't know which is cheaper: paying in USD or BTC.
BTC should be cheaper because it does not involve credit/debit cards.
chargeback is impossible.

so that explains why the price drove up 50 dollars today... insider information. probably doesn't have that much to do with the marshal auction.

this is pretty big news though.. much bigger than tirgerdirect accepting it. i think newegg has the clout to push the ball along.

Marshal auction is a non event, same for the senate hearing last year.

E-commerce news have a much deeper impact on price than anything else.

Just how bearish can you be?

Even in a thread about good news you complain about the news not being good enough.

Wow this is huge! They have such large market share that this will drive other merchants to start accepting btc also, otherwise be left in the dirt. I'm surprised that TigerDirect actually beat them to accepting btc. Now... only if we can get Amazon to also accept it.

What is really great is that they have not just started accepting it, but they are educating people about it too

I'm waiting for the LG G3 price to come down a few bucks and I'll go ahead and buy it on NewEgg.

I did see that the price is a few percent lower on Amazon but the Amazon companies all ship from South Korea. Not sure if the phones are different coming from Korea or not.

First seastead company actually selling sea homes: Ocean Builders https://ocean.builders  Of course we accept bitcoin.

BTC acceptance from a company I actually use!
I finally get use it as a currency. That is assuming that NewEgg values the BTC acceptably.
I love their customer service. Makes me very loyal to them.
