Is this list just for companies based in USA or can I add others?

UK for example.

Scan.co.uk (Software and Hardware company) like Newegg etc etc
Overclockers.co.uk  (as above)
Takeaway.com  (Can order food and takeaways etc)

Sweden

Webhallen.com  (Large in Scandinavia, like Newegg in what they sell)

Dell.com added to the list.

This list is going to be a real pain to maintain at some point.

Bitcoin is the first monetary system to credibly offer perfect information to all economic participants.

There's an updated list like this here: http://www.panture.com/businesses-that-accept-bitcoin/

But they obviously don't cover all companies. And I must agree, eventually maintaining a standard list will become difficult

You could improve your list by including a link to those companies' commerce pages where the bitcoin is used.

Further, the companies who joined the list as the 'largest' at the time bitcoin acceptance began deserve special recognition.  Give them a star or something.

Please mention the jurisdiction in your list, like which one is US only, which one is EU only and which one is open for the world.

Also, it might be interesting to list them by billions of USD revenue per year.  That way, you could limit to 1 billion or more.

Thanks for the list
Will keep track of this thread and add to it as well but some rules on market capital might be worth noting as Bitchick said.

What is the combined annual revenue? I think we could safely say 10% of that would be higher than bitcoin's current market cap

Dell.com added to the list.

Indeed, that was positive news today. Hopefully they aren't on there way to going bankrupt still.

One of the things stopping people from paying in bitcoin is that most people buy Bitcoin as an investment with the idea to make money that way,.....

I can see the media narrative all ready. "Dell accepts bitcoin. Goes bankrupt."

I think it will take some time before the really big companies will start accepting it. they usually are afraid of new things.

Thanks for this list, gonna be fun to watch this grow over the next year.

I've know about gyft.com accepting bitcoin but just checked out their website and was pretty impressed.  Seems like you can use their ios and android app to buy basically anything you want via bitcoins.  Sure its through gift cards, but it looks like they're stored on your phone and available immediately.

Think I'll test it out with Amazon.com this weekend.

http://www.gyft.com/blog/pay-bitcoin-gyft-ios-app/

Looks like they just started offering this feature from the iOS app, check out that link.
