Well my node isn't showing any of the 27 bitcoiners it knows about as being online. So somehow our nodes have lost the ability to find each other or something? Do your nodes have my no-ip hostname, crossciv.no-ip.org in their records of me? If so that ought to be letting them find me even when my ISP changes my IP-address...
-MarkM-
Hang-on I'll just turn it on now (still not added everyone [plus most people haven't come online too {only one I think <must be you >}]) and the other thing I don't like about Retroshare is that you can't export your "public-key" list like when you do a re-install that's why I always go back to OneSwarm - http://www.oneswarm.org/about.html - with its community servers.

The total lack of any connections makes this thing basically useless. Its pretty, but so what, at least with Freenet and i2p and Tor I get connections, this thing might look better but seems to be totally useless, I might as well turn it off too if none of you are actually going to be running it.

Retroshare wasn't suited to be a replacement forum for Bitcoin. - Primarily a file sharing app, not focused on forums
- Buggy forum code
- Slow development on bug fixes
- Required anonymous users of Bitcoin to identify to each other to connect
I just don't see it being useful so stopped using it, probably so did many others hence why there is no one to connect to.

I just don't see it being useful so stopped using it, probably so did many others hence why there is no one to connect to. Agreed, I was running 24/7 but it felt kinda pointless after a while. I really don't think the F2F nature is the problem though; most probably, it's the fact that your forum identity is the same as your node identity, which is a show stopper in an F2F situation. Also, it doesn't offer anything new, and doesn't seem faster, more resilient or more persistent than Freenet, which is more established, multipurpose and offers a lot more features. If everyone's going to quit using RetroShare, I think we should take advantage of the fact that we are already exposed and share Freenet node references over RetroShare, and eventually move the F2F structure there.

Shall we start a new thread for swapping Freenet public keys?
Is there a need? Isn't Freenet already well-connected, so if we are already on Freenet at all we can communicate over it, without any need to link our bitcoin forum identities to our freenet identities? Maybe just mention bitcoin in a Sone, so people can search in the Sone system and find people who have mentioned bitcoin? -MarkM-

Shall we start a new thread for swapping Freenet public keys?
Is there a need? Well, it's a long shot but if there proves to be more interest in running Freenet 24/7, then switching to darknet mode would be a possibility (for those of us who need it at least), which is pretty much the holy grail.

But we don't actually know each other, any of us could be narks, we'd be deliberately making direct connections to some nark, putting them right into our darknet. Taking one's chances with the random connections one normally gets seems maybe even safer really than that.

Hello everyone - please add me, don't give up on this. There has been an update on the Retroshare software some time ago, check if you have the latest one: http://retroshare.sourceforge.net/downloads.html-----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- Version: GnuPG/MacGPG2 v2.0.18 (Darwin)

Have a look here, maybe you have this problem: http://retroshare.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=6079&sid=dbb19d58a53e4630125938258130281aRetroshare crashes if you have a Masterkey with SCEA (sign, certificat, encrypt, authentication) and in addition subkeys to this masterkey. Solution: 1) Backup your key (export with the GPG software) 2) Delete every subkey that your masterkey has 3) Now Retroshare shouldn't crash anymore with this key 4) Start Retroshare using the key and login 5) End Retroshare 6) Restore you key (import it back with the GPG software) 7) Start Retroshare again and you are done and can connect to me

That's the thing, I can't delete one of the subkeys :/ It remains there even after I tell seahorse to delete it
EDIT: Well, I managed to start it again with my key, but now Retroshare tells me the key password is wrong lol
EDIT 2: Well, it works again, but everyone I added just vanished. What a buggy software =/

Did you delete your profile? Or did you recreate your Retroshare user account? Then it would be expected that all is vanished. If you did not recreate your user account and just type in the password for your existing user then that would indeed be a bug...btw I'm online right now, but can't see anyone of the bitcoiners - is anyone online at the moment?
