The swap from SilkCoin to Silk will be at a 1:1 ratio and it will be held on our Weaver platform at silknetwork.org. Poloniex will not be handling the Silk swap, but they will still support trading of the new Silk and DarkSilk (I'm pretty sure )

New Silkcoin folder updated for quick sync  including nodes
For Newcomers
download and install the silkcoin wallet first
start the wallet for a minute or so then exit
Get the updated files: Download the silkcoin.zip file, it's around 950megs..
Files here On Google Drive

 
Then use the search feature for windows, and search for %APPDATA%
Once you're there click "Roaming" then goto the Silkcoin dir.
This is the folder where silkcoin wallet keeps the data

Then extract everything over, everything from silkcoin.zip file, into the silkcoin folder you found in the %APPDATA% search. Overwrite all.

Don't delete or play with your wallet.dat file.

PS: You only need to do this in case of trouble, loss of data, no sync wallet, or new to the silkcoin

DarkSilk is a PoW coin normally miners sell at a profit or they will not mine. So price should reflect the cost that they have made.
On the demand side of the price its all about the value that the developer pours into the coin through features and support. Will the developer over or under deliver?

Basically, investing in mining equipment is a miner's decision and any investment involves risk.

Just did a checkwallet and found a lot of orphans and mismatched spent coins
so I had to do a repairwallet

What's all the fuss about this SWAP from Silkcoin to Silk?
The swap from SILK(SilkCoin) to SLK(Silk) will be done at 1:1 ratio and it will be held ONLY via the swap function on Weaver at silknetwork.org
You will be able to sign up to Weaver anonymously, send your Silkcoin to the swap address and your Weaver wallet will be credited 1:1.
The swap will be indefinite, but only addresses prior to the swap starting can swap from Silkcoin to Silk.
Once the swap begins the Silkcoin market on Poloniex will be closed but your coins will still be there in your online wallet
The Silk market SLK will launch when Silk is released and the swap begins.
Basically once the Weaver is released, you have to transfer your Silkcoin from your computer wallet or online wallet to Weaver,
make the exchange to Silk and then do whatever you want with the new Silk
Exchanges will continue to deal only the new coin SLK(Silk) after the swap begins

What if I don't want to make the swap?
It's your choice but you'll end up with a bunch of useless coins that no one will be further support, .....nice memories though

How can I get Darksilk coins?
You will be able to buy some DarkSilk from the crowdfunding phase.....once released
You can Swap your Silkcoin for Silk and weave for DarkSilk on Weaver....once released
You can Buy Silk and weave for DarkSilk on Weaver....once released
Or mine on the multipool on Weaver, get paid in Silk and weave on Weaver for DarkSilk....once released
Miners will be provided, this will not be CPU mineable because of the possible exploitation by botnets.
GPU will be possible, with ASIC development being necessary over time.

Will Silk and DRKSLK share anything else other than part of the name?

Yes, the entire platform of Weaver is built to cater for Silk and DarkSilk and all future applications and systems take Silk fully into account and are built to support the price and usability.
Also the DarkSilk wallet is quite a complicated wallet with many many features that most end-users will not use, or even understand how to use.
Silk offers a simpler, easier, less complicated route onto the Silk Network.

What's so good about Silk to make me invest?
Because SLK(Silk) will be an integral part of the SilkNetwork in terms of services and used as a currency for services.

not really you do more work then the op.. and these are the questions i got my head bit off for asking.  youve summed everything up.   and are clearly the largest holder of silk.  take the reigns.   good work.
