i tried the 5 second dummy resistor thing, it dosent seem to work. all it did was turn the screen black and sometimes it would shut down all together. anyone know how to address this problem?
also does ubuntu require you to hook up a moniter to every gpu?
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

As far as i know, Linux doesn't need the dummy plug.
Are you using win7? do you have less than 5 GPUs and sufficient power?
Then try official catalyst 11.3 with APP (ocl).
I have problems with 11.4
