With or without bitcoins!

I just made an entirely new site to run your own march madness pool:

http://www.bitmadness.com/

To kick it off right, I've made a public pool that is free to enter with a total of 100 BTC in the pot! AND, if you somehow beat the odds and get all 63 games correct, you get 10,000, yes... 10,000 BTC! The chances of that happening are pretty small.. especially because only one entry is allowed per person, no cheating, eh!

Here's some cool stuff about Bit Madness:

 1. You can make as many pools as you want, and keep them closed to those you invite or open to anybody with the link.
 2. There are a number of options for how to score your pool and tiebreakers.
 3. This is the only march madness pool management site (that I know of) that will also manage money. If you're doing cash, it can just help you with the accounting, if you're doing bitcoin, it handles everything. You can also set your pools to free of course.
 4. The site uses the new MtGox payment API for the bitcoin stuff.. I think it may be the first implementation of it in the wild?!
 5. There's no limit to how many members you can have in your pools.
 6. The site is completely free, looks decent enough (in my humble opinion) and has no ads!

Please check it out, make a pool (and/or join the free one for a chance to win some BTC), invite your friends, give me some feedback, and let's go anybody but Duke!

And I'm going to bed! Damn you daylight savings!

Thanks for bringing this up.. I see where mtgox has been posting to our IPN with their API, but for some reason every post (the most recent one 1.5 hours ago) has had the status as "partial" (which implies < 6 confirmations).. I'll ask them what's up!?

For the cash sites, how do you mark people as paid?

Coinbase for selling BTCs
Fold for spending BTCs
PM me with any questions on these sites/apps!  http://www.montybitcoin.com

or Vircurex for trading alt cryptocurrencies like DOGEs
CoinNinja for exploring the blockchain.

Whoops, sorry about that.. there was a bug where you could only mark them as paid after the tournament begins! Now you can mark them paid just by clicking on their entry name, there'll be a button on the right that says "mark as paid"!

Great Job with the site. Wish I saw it earlier, I would have created a pool.

Thanks! I do plan on hopefully offering Sweet 16 pools too starting Monday for the late-comers and terrible-pickers! Smiley

is there a way to sort the rankings so we can easily see where we are in comparison with everyone else?

I'll be adding that tomorrow!

Although it is actually currently sorted in order of max possible points, which is kind of all that matters (vs. points just being what you have now)!

I should add an "expected points" thing too!

Also, I just made a new Sweet 16 "second-chance" pool, and now the links to invite people actually ARE referral links (i.e. if somebody you referred wins, you get 10% out of their winnings)!

You can make your own pool at:
http://www.bitmadness.com/new16.php

or sign up for a free one with a 25 BTC pot at:
http://www.bitmadness.com/pool.php?g=UC27YF84

or sign up for a 1 BTC one with an additional 25 BTC pot at:
http://www.bitmadness.com/pool.php?g=B99SNG25
(less competition for the 25 BTC!)

Note, for both of those the scoring includes a bonus for correctly picking an underdog!
