I am having problems with the r3-box restarting very often and every 1-8hrs it hangs on restarting and just shows "cgminer is restarting" at the top in of the interface in red three times but it never does and just hangs and never starts mining again. Has anyone else had issues with this?

I found this when translating rockminers site:

Quote
Raspberry send frequent restart

1 ambient temperature is too high lead (above 37 degrees), please try to keep around the mining machine ventilation.
2. SD card is faulty, by re-programming the mirror or replace the SD card solved.
3 with a USB data cable shorted lead to instability, check whether the USB cable OK.

nr. 1 is definitely not a problem, And if the sd card is corrupted should it  not be not mining at all?

Has anyone succesfully ran it on a windows pc with cgminer? (can you use a stock cgminer 4.5.0 (which supports r-box) or do you need their fork?) because then i could use cgwatcher to reboot when no shares are accepted or perhaps identify if the problem is in the miner itself or in the pi.....

That isn't true about the SD card corruption, sectors can have errors and it partially work. You can try running with 1 module for a while and see if you still get restarts. Monitor the temps before a restart.

Just go to rockminer.com then downloads, I don't want to give you a direct link because it will sit here forever and eventually not be the latest one.

You should be on sourceforge... http://sourceforge.net/projects/rockminer/files/RaspberryPi_Rockminer_Rocket_V1.3.0_192.168.1.254.zip/download

Thanks, that is much better. The rockminer website took me to the first link, all in Chinese, so that's why I was stuck on what to DL.
It would be nice to place a link to the sourceforge directory (not the specific file) in your guide.

Multiple attempts to download ZIP file on home and work machines always resulted in corrupt image.
Tried 2 different PI's, but couldn't get image to boot.
Then I tried to plug into a Windows host and made some progress, but it's still not correct.
While I don't see the USB device showing up in the list of available devices, the cgminer instance is telling me that it sees somthing out on the USB bus. It looks like maybe the incorrect driver, but not sure what driver I should be using.
Any suggestions on how to get cgminer to recognize and run the R4 miner?

Its even telling you, you need to Zadig it. Download zadig. http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/zadig/

I installed the driver, and it's working better now.
Each of the 4 blades is showing up, but at a much slower speed than anticipated.
Ive tried 2 different pools, but not making a difference.
This should be around 450GHs, but instead im getting:

You need to update your cgminer. Use version 4.5.0 from the official cgminer website here:

http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/

Also it will be around 500 in my experience with the R4. What power supply are you using at the moment?

Ill try the new cgminer today. Just woke-up right now...
The PSU is a Seasonic X1050.
Neither the R4 nor the Seasonic are even getting warm. Staying quite cool due to low hashrate.
Another question. I have 2 drivers installed, one is for the CP2102, the other CP210x.

hmm...weird, that power supply sounds like it can more than handle the power requirements of the R4.
It really looks to me like it is being recognised only as a R-box, hence the 30+ gh/s speed.
What does your bat file look like? Do you mind posting it here, just to make sure there is nothing missing or wrong in that.

Another question. I have 2 drivers installed, one is for the CP2102, the other CP210x.

strange again, there is definitely something wrong with the configuration of the drivers or cgminer. Are these two drivers in the device manager. I would uninstall CP210x as this might be causing problems. Could you possible post a screenshot of your device manager please. Also when you open zadig and select list all devices, can you see 4 x CP2102 and do they all say WinUSB driver installed? I would uninstall all the drivers and start again from scratch. Also try it with cgminer 4.5.0.

Installed new cgminer, and it's working now aparently at full speed. I don't think there is any PSU issue currently. Still running cool.

Great! As your PSU is running cool, i would suggest setting your freq to 350, that should make the speed increase.

Add --rock-freq 350 to your batfile. Mine looks like this:

cgminer.exe --icarus-options 115200:1:1 --rock-freq 350 -o stratum.d7.lt:3333 -u iloveppcoin.2 -p 12345
pause

Ill try that in the morning... What are the icarus-options for? I don't have those in my bat file.

something to do with the chip. I was told to use it by ckolivas so throw it in. Like i said, every R4 i test has been between 480-520 so i will be surprised if yours can't go that high too.

The best frequencies in my opinion are 320 or 350

Be200 chips in this design are rated to 280 (250 is ideal for this chip) max on the frequency, anything more results in more HW and rejects than actual accepted shares, klintay has a stake though as owner operator of eyeboot (who resell these units) in making sure you all think these units can do over 500gh, go to rockminers official site, even they advertise them as 400-450 at max, and they provide alot more information about the units aswell, stop telling everyone to dangerously overclock there units klint, it doesnt matter to you as you will use the crap out of a unit and then sell to it some poor sap like me, but we actually plan on keeping and using the equipment so jacking up the freqency to 350 and the power consumption to 1200 watts and beyond is not a good idea people

And the icarus options are for CPU communication i think brother, i remember it having something to do with the CPU, the way these guys are set up they use a good bit of processing power from the controller to actually work, hence the icarus options added there, i think it is what was causing the problems with the rasp-pi controllers, cause they have very tiny cores

What LEDs are you getting on the individual boards? Are the mini usb cables definitely plugged in well from each board to the hub?
