You know things are getting bad with the Foundation when he leaves and for the reasons stated. I really don't like what the Foundation is becoming at all. I don't think it's good for bitcoin as a whole either.

He gets a bit fired up {fanatical} in some of his videos, but it only shows his passion for what he is doing.
I must say, I enjoy all his stuff, and the detailed information he gives.
He also gives detailed answers to the Q&A part, which shows his knowledge on the subject matter.

The Bitcoin Foundation is no longer serving the community. They have been bought out by the top banks and credit agencies who are currently planning to deploy their lobbyists on DC so that they will control all bitcoin activity for all time. This won't happen for many reasons, the main one being how much that would completely screw over all of the ETF and investment firms that are currently making plans of their own. The banks and credit agencies are the pawns of the world elite, nothing more. Love them or hate them, the Winklevoss twins have blood-tied connections to all of the richest families in the world with a total networth of many trillions of dollars. The fat cat new-money banksters have no clue who they are really going against. The elites have willed bitcoin into the world and they won't let anybody screw it up. This has been obvious for a long time now. Bitcoin is now the elites' baby and the banks are just their bitch. The good part is when we get to find out how much money the banks wasted on trying to control a decentralized P2P network.

BTC foundation plays important role in debating the legal framework of BTC internationally. Is it any impact of the news to the exchange rate of the BTC?

Nothing that Andreas does will impact the price of bitcoin. He is not the CEO of a major bank or business.

Nothing that Andreas does will impact the price of bitcoin. He is not the CEO of a major bank or business. He is more important to bitcoin than the CEO of any bank. He is probably bitcoin's smartest cheerleader. http://youtu.be/c2CsJ2HMA2Ihttp://youtu.be/tgEDOBgYg-g

I think Andreas is probably genuinely passionate and was in bitcoin (and the foundation) with good intentions, but I reckon he figured out the rest of the members there wern't really like him and only care about one thing: profit. Maybe this can free his time up to do more things now. I think he's a good figurehead for bitcoin but he doesnt need to be in the foundation for that.

This is a big blow to the foundation for sure. Overall I think it is good for bit coin. We don't need some opaque organization with conflicting interests representing bit coin.

"I can no longer have even the smallest association with the Bitcoin Foundation, because of the complete lack of transparency". Sounds not very good for any organisation.

Good for him.
The Bitcoin Foundation no longer serves the community & is slowly being taken over by banksters, lobbyists & politicians looking to make a buck. They are selling us out without communicating with anyone, as well as letting known criminals with shady pasts (including fraud) join their elite little group.
No wonder he has joined the other good people with morals and walked out of the Foundation. Bitcoin does not need the foundation - especially one that is "owned" by criminals.

Does the Bitcoin Foundation have notable competition yet? Do we have an alternative with any numbers/backing?

It's a shame. When you have good and bad members and the good ones start to leave.......
+1000 Sort of the inverse concept of Good Money pushing out the Bad but with pounds of flesh. Really sorry to see one of the absolute best bitcoin advocates (my opinion) leaving the Foundation. Unless the Bitcoin Foundation changes a great deal I really fear what affect the dregs that are left behind are going to have on Bitcoin overall. Can't believe some of those people are still there given history of Fraud and allegation's of FAR more serious crimes. Not good for bitcoin's image in the short term I'm afraid :-(

Actually a good question is if the Bitcoin ecosystem needs the Foundation or may be any other, less formal and more democratic association or foundation? What do you think?

No - get rid of it. I don't want a "Foundation" claiming to represent Bitcoin that operates behind closed doors harbouring convicted fraudsters & sex criminals. It also does not need any lobbyists - it goes against everything that Bitcoin stands for. Bitcoin has got this far without it, it will go to the top without it too. This is just the beginning.......
First things first though, GET RID OF THE BITCOIN FOUNDATION.

Or just ignore them. They become less relevant all the time. I was on the fence about them before but this and the real coin thing pushed me off.

The Bitcoin Foundation needs to be disbanded. I certainly didn't vote on having a Foundation and I don't think many/any of us did. It violates the entire principal of decentralization.
A centralized entity such as the Bitcoin Foundation will only try to introduce centralized solutions to a decentralized technology, and is itself a target for governments and corruption/manipulation. I suspect Foundation motives counter to the purpose of Bitcoin itself.
Without the Foundation there is no central target, which is how it is supposed to be.
