There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. Hybrid server-assisted clients like Electrum get a lot of their network information from centralized servers, but they also check the server's results using blockchain header data. This is perhaps somewhat more secure than either server-assisted clients or header-only clients.

Can you come up with an idea and do it for the community?  I'm sure we can use your labour and skills.  We will not mind to donate if it's a good idea and that you are taking some initiative working on it.

For example, Use your sales skill to convince an existing business to accept bitcoins through MtGox's Checkout

Well, I operate a bitcoin lottery of some sorts, and I'm starting a mining contract (super excited) see here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=67547.0

I did put up bitcoin flyers at the Autodesk FIRST Oregon Robotics competition last weekend in portland, that was a blast, finishing the code in the hotel the night before was fun too Tongue

I do like your idea though, I think I will go around seeing if companies will be willing to accept bitcoin. That would be awesome going to a store and buying things like that!
