All Altcoins are to fall. We need centralisation and one good coin. Not another 1000 useless coins with no future. It would be better that people won't create anymore altcoins imho.

It is so hard to say ... there are many good coins around but perhaps Litecoin have a chance to stay with us for some longer ... It is so hard to say ... coins are attacked, coins are dumped, well many problems with other altcoins - Litecoin seems very secure.

99% of current alts will probably lose 99% of their value over the next couple years.
You get better odds at a roulette wheel.
|
Bitcoin is the first monetary system to credibly offer perfect information to all economic participants.

Why you think so? I might agree that this is possible ... but 99% is almost all of them ... which I am not so sure

None will dominate, some will flourish. As for specific coins - no idea - but:
At least one anon coin. At least one coin with built-in decentralized asset exchange or financial services (NXT, Ripple, CounterParty, Bitshares, Mastercoin - that kind of thing).
Apart from that anything which appeals to a specific niche group of users (not just miners) has a chance, and everything which doesn't has very little chance.

It is very interesting I must say but those are only speculations and for being honest I think that there is a place for few altcoins next to the Bitcoin. Well and this is what you are saying too. 99% of current alts means that few of them will survive :-) And this is what I am thinking about it too. Kind regards.

From time to time there will be a coin that catches attention and is "cool" to own, but long term all altcoins will get replaced by other coins.

Best way to get an idea is to look at the top 30 or so coins. Then you can decide for yourself which to invest in, also you will get an idea what gives them the top coin status. Nobody knows best where you should put your money so make sure to do your research along with considering the advice of others in this thread.

So why not just use your mastercard? I'm confident that the following is true: Altcoins are new, everyone wants to be a dev, so things are insane at the moment. It will settle down, and more than a handful will find niches. The short-term future for an altcoin is getting a small market all for itself. This is happening, although very slowly.

Well, if you look a the world there are several FIAT curriencies, a world wide currency isn't necessary, maybe different trends happen in each place of the world and we have a couple active cryptos, maybe not and everyone embraces BTC. In an unregulated market everything is possible as long as there is someone accepting whatever coin. Also, if you want 100% privacy, I wouldn't use BTC but Monero as of to date.

Exactly. Increase in user adoption and limited supply of coins will be a problem for bitcoin, I don't think Satoshi thought it would get this big. With at least one or two alt coins, it gives a place for users to go when bitcoins are too rare which may help stabalize bitcoin.

BTC is divisible up to 8 decimals so there are more than enough units for everyone to use. Even if/when the need arises they can be divided even more. And on-topic: Monero The people here saying Litecoin are delusional, almost every single shitcoin coming out at the moment has more future potential than Litecoin, it's just that Litecoin has been number 2 for a long time as the silver next to the gold (BTC), but will be thrown of the altcoin throne in the near future.
