Wow this would really be something.  In fact I'd be very surprised if they did it.  Would they use Bitpay to get cash for the BTC submitted?  I can't imagine a government entity hoarding Bitcoin, what would they do with it?

While it does not specify “Bitcoin”,  one is hard pressed to find another digital currency that the report could be alluding to (Ripple perhaps?).  In any case, we’re fairly certain it’s not Flooz.

LOL!  Yes The City of Pittsburgh gonna corner the Freicoin market.  No plans for Bitcoin though.

They have a fiduciary responsibility and the most robust coin is Bitcoin.


The only other possible digital currency would be Ripple and that's a long shot.

volitality would be absorbed by the vendor whether it be Gov Link CoinBase or BitPay or a combination of thereof.

I doubt that Pittsburgh would hold a BTC position (at least initially). They won't expose themselves to price volatility. They will be using the Bitcoin Payment Network and won't be holding the bitcoin token.

This one along many articles is why I don't trust blog post claiming huge news and adoption rates.

There has been so much hype over pieces of discussion lately.

When the deal is real you'll find out from the company or the government itself not from a secret source.

if sticks of wood held off money changers for almost 400 years, may bitcoin can take a good run at them

This really is great news and could help Botcoin get out there more now which is what we need. At the moment bitcoin is not used in many places but the fact that some places are allowing it means that others are seeing it's being used and realising how beneficial it could be. Fingers crossed this is a break through bitcoin needs.

However, in new statements to CoinDesk, city officials have confirmed that while “digital currency was indeed mentioned in one of the transition reports written before [current Mayor William Peduto] took office,” the city has “no current plans to take the currency”.
