I realized that , and my apologies , twice now I've clicked the S4 and keeps taking me back here , I will try again should I continue this on the S4 or are you able to move this over there? .. and I did go by the IP on the LCD as well .. same result.

What is the IP on the LCD?

127.0.0.1 is on the LCD

Thats an error essentially. See the last question in the FAQ to reset the miner to default and try again.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=813417.0#post_section5

ok reset worked .. thank you!
now .. hardware version in my miner shows xxxx ... on their site , after reading the manual there is a file for the S4 under firmware , am I supposed to upgrade now with that?

on a side note its really annoying that antminer keeps putting their pool url in even after I keep deleting it

Just leave the firmware as it is for now, there's nothing that important in the update.

ok and now when I try to enter my pool i get this message ..my system isnt detecting the rig , I have entered all the info into the configuration,  also downloaded cgminer and same thing it isnt detecting the device ,I don't understand why ,but I do see it in the router listed. Checked my device manager nothing is listed on com3 .. not sure what to do, suggestions? thanks

Icarus detection on COM3 failed. Expected nonce 0x00000109 but got 0xF93050BF.

I have no idea what you're doing but you're doing something wrong. Follow the setup instructions step by step.

Great post... thanks!

Is it possible to power two Antminer S3's with a single PSU?

If so, which unit would you buy for that purpose?

If I am not over-clocking is there an advantage to using all 4 PCI-e connections, instead of just 2, on an S3?

/Dpvxjd]1200 axi will do 2 and a half easily. 4 will reduce cable temps and improve stability, I'd always recommend it over 2.
Hi Dogie,
I have 2 units S3+ and would like connect these via 1 PSU using 8 x PCI-e 6+2pin connectors.
Which is the best power supply I need to buy? I need your advice.
Thanks.

Will a Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 1000w work for 2?

It's what I currently have to use but its 2 x 6 pin pci-e per cable, they aren't individual cables so I am bit worried abut the cable temp, will it still be safe if I leave them at stock settings when doing it this way? (it would be 8 plugs to 2 units on 4 cables)

Thanks Dogie

one more question: does the latest firmware have a option to disable the beeper completely? or is setting to false and use padded tape on the speaker the only method still?

It does but I don't think it entirely works. I put a screw into mine from the case to shut it up. If you don't want to hear it at all you can screw further and physically remove its ability to vibrate.

Great guide will be helpful!

I'm thinking of ordering 8 of them. Will one Corsair-RM 850w-psu power two miners? Also, I guess I need some kind of ethernet switch to be able to plug in 8 of them? Should I configure each separately?

Yes, although the 1000s are a better investment. You'll need a switch, just plug one in, DHCP it [or move to a unique static] before plugging in the next.

Alright cool, I've placed the order but I'm still wondering which PSU would be optimal... So you are saying the 850W will have a hard time powering two miners?
EDIT: I guess I can spend another 100 USD to get 4x Corsair RM1000 instead.

The EVGA 1300 G2 should power 3 S3+'s, that might be a better option if they're available where you live and cheap enough.  You might need some splitters if you want to overclock.

No I'm saying the RM1000 is just more versatile due to its capacity and having 8 PCI-E.

This video here has 2 of them running off a RM 850

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E42lmDKsP78

Just don't overclock at all, cause 2 of them together will push close to 700w.

also I agree with dogie, a 1000w is better so ya have 8 plugs as well as better lifetime of the PSU.

Alright, thank you, I will get the RM1000. Since I plan to overclock then the extra PCI-E cables will come in handy.

well I got my S3+ Antminer running, seems to be working good

456 GH/s avg hashrate, all 32 chips are working, none are defective thankfully

temps of both of the mining boards is 36c and 39c

the fans that come with it are a bit loud though, every once in a while they ramp up in speed to push out built up heat and then lower in speed again. it's the only thing I don't like about it. I'm gonna get some different fans for it later on that are more quieter.

Hi Dogie,

I have an S3 setup and running thanks to your guide. I'm not getting the advertised 400+Gh/s tho Huh. I've set up my own pool (mine4.com) and its only showing that it runs arround 200Ghs. This is also confirmed by the control pannel when I hit the IP address. The control pannel shows it runs fast initally, but settles over 5 minutes or so to the 200 approx.

Is there something I need to do to get the bitmain to run faster?
I considered re-flashing the software, but the link you posted in your first post only has S1 and S2 software.
   Any help would be appreciated.

 Thanks in advance.
