Looks like a pretty decent coin.

No halving? 30 days of mining at the same block reward... I'm interested to see how this works out.

Thanks! No, there's no halving. A lot of coins starts with big blocks, and when they hit bittrex, everyone sells evetything, and the price goes down, or the coin dies. And people who keep mining until the end of the chain, end up losing money instead of being rewarded.
So, we thought 1 ELC per block would be a lot better (long-term).

@schiavonxv since there's no premine we can't reward for translations. However if you still do it for free, we will really appreciate it!

@Redtschorn thanks!

@cecilbdemented we thought of that. We don't really know what's best in this case.
If we set let's say first 100 blocks = 0 ELC, people will complain, because the diff will go up and miners who don't have a lot of power will lose an opportunity to mine some ELC at low diff.
If we leave the reward 1 ELC per block from block 1, people will also complain. So, it's kind of a hard decision.

I agree, people will always complain no matter what.  IMO a short opening period of 0 or extremely low rewards is the best way to go.  Raising the difficulty before hitting the reward blocks evens the playing field and makes it fair for everybody.  Otherwise only the instaminers reap the early rewards and raise the difficulty before all the pools finish setting up anyway.  So I'm a big proponent of a short, one hour zero reward phase.  If you want to reward early miners, how about a 12-24 hour period of 1.5-2 coin blocks, then reduce to 1?

Also, people will ALWAYS accuse the dev of being the one doing all the instamining, even if that's not the case.

Need hashrate limit.

Is that possible? I've never seen a coin with hashrate limit!

About what cecilbdemented said: in my case it's better if the blocks starts with a reward. I have a 560gtx video card, and the only way I could solo mine some blocks, is if I'm fast enough to download the wallet and start mining. If there's no reward at first, it would be impossible for me because of the high diff. And I'm sure some other members are in the same position. Still, big miners will always instamine every coin... So I think both ways have their pros and cons.

I don't see the way to limit hash rate. And if you somehow do that miners can register few accounts and split miners. Also they may have more wallet addresses so you can't know that same person is behinde. Coin seem interesting to me and i'll try to mine it from start. Also I like logo very much Smiley

Thanks, I might have a crack, but I need to set up mining from the cloud, so it is good to know beforehand if any issues crop up.

I like the idea, and low count coins are the way to go at the moment.

Best of luck.

Thanks rikkejohn! Don't worry, no issues so far. If anything happens I'll let you all know!

Some updates:
- Windows wallet compiled and working fine.
- We're getting in touch with some altcoins shops to start accepting our coin for products and services. We hope we can get at least two of them this week!
- Tomorrow we'll contact and start tweeting Bittrex. Later this week, we'll try to get on the vote list at Poloniex and Mintpal.
