I have not been able to get into contact with the faucet operator. We will get a new one up right away.

I believe I know the faucet operator. I will get ahold of him and see what his plans are. Last time I talked to him, he seemed quite happy with FireCoin and the new team behind it  Grin

Thanks let me know what happens.

Cryptocointools,
Any updates on the original faucet owner? If they haven't responded yet we should plan on going with a new one ASAP. If they have responded please ask them how long it will take to come back online.  I dont know how they set it up or why its down, but it shouldn't take much time and we want to get it back online very soon (before the weekend?).

- VR

Good question. I got a message from him this morning that he was on vacation and would be back in a couple days to set things back up.

Either way, I plan on putting a FireCoin Faucet a.k.a. FlameThrower up on my website at CryptocoinTools.com

I put the wallet on one of my servers last night and its all synced and ready to go. I just need to setup config and cron jobs.

The best thing for the coin would be not to wait.  How soon can you have a FlameThrower up (love the name) on cryptocointools.com?

Did you update the wallet already? If so, great, and we should type up a short description on the updates.  If you want help testing  the new updates send me a PM.

Hey, yes so I setup the Flamethrower @ http://cryptocointools.com/faucets/firecoin/

But it is not fully functional yet. I tested with QT-wallet, and just finished compiling the daemon on my Linux server this morning. I should have it up sometime later today (depending on your timezone)

S3cr3t1 would be the best to talk to about upcoming wallet updates. He has been digging and hacking away at the source all this week. Try stopping by our IRC channel, as a lot of us are usually chatting away about stuff in there.

Thank you for you input. I have made the changes to twitter. I am happy to hear feedback from people. I know I do not know everything so I welcome feedback. I want this coin to be a great coin and it will not be if we do not get input from the community so keep it coming.

We may want to designate a media specialist. Someone who interacts not just over social media, but also with crypto journalists, and crypto currency news sites.

The more crypto currency related sites that post about FireCoin the better.  If we manage to get any coverage in the crypto currency news world we may spark additional interest.

But for any of this to work, we will of course need to see significant development and community support to the coin (IE the dev stuff that is "in the works").

I think designating a head role for Media/Marketing/PR would be fantastic.
We need the visibility, because even the greatest ideas won't mean much if nobody finds out about it

I think you have done a great job so far generating good discussion and getting the community to head in the "right" direction. Would you be up for the job? I think you could do great Smiley

Any thoughts/comments from anyone on this?

I agree with this motion. It will be of great benefit to FireCoin and everyone that is here.
I think VR would make a great candidate.

I have just finished installation and configuration for a Firecoin Supernode. This supernode is currently setup to handle up to 500 connections and is located in Kansas City, MO on a 1-Gigabit line.  Cool

I want to do some more testing first and then I will release the domain/ip, etc. Although it should already be on the network doing "work". This super node will also get included in our upcoming wallet update, so that first time users can experience faster wallet sync and not have to setup any type of Firecoin.conf if they wish not to.

I just wanted to welcome virtualreality69 to the team. I wanted to let everyone know that we are glad to have such a great community. Many people have volunteered which is important because once the community starts to take ownership of the coin that is when we can really grow. Look at the biggest coins most of the original developers are not the main driving force behind the coin, it is the community. So keep up the great work and help in anyway you can.

Alright, Firecoin supernode appears to be running well. The details are below:

Firecoin Supernode Domain: NODE.FIRECOIN.TK
Firecoin Supernode IP: 63.141.245.10

Until the supernode is added to the wallet's seed node in our upcoming wallet update, you can connect to it in the following way:

Add "addnode=NODE.FIRECOIN.TK" to your Firecoin.conf file and run as normal

I am running this as a free service to the Firecoin community and personally pay for the dedicated server it is on. Any donations are greatly appreciated Smiley

I've been impressed with all the recent updates and the current state of Firecoin.  Great work everyone!

Not many coin wallets actively show stake weight. I was pleasantly surprised to see the wallet display it in the bottom right. Would anyone like to give a brief overview of stake weight, and how it works?  Might be helpful for the community :-)

Cheers,
- VR

We have done some testing on the new wallet update. Looks like it is all good to go. We will be releasing it tomorrow morning. (I guess it is later this morning for me). This will not be a mandatory update.

Optional Wallet Update

We have just released a new wallet. Version 2.1.0.0 is the current version. We have only been able to compile the windows version at this time but will get the Mac as soon as we can. If anyone is able to help with this it would be appreciated.

Change Log:
Added seed nodes
Added supernode
Added Block Weight in Coin control

These are minor changes but useful. You no long need to add the config file. You should connect automatically with this new wallet. The block weight will show you which blocks of coins are ready to be staked and show you each blocks current weight. This is in the coin control area for advanced users. We also have added Super node to help make sure the network is fast and stable. We will have a future Update that Includes, New design for the wallet, Block Explorer in the wallet, IRC launch from the wallet and maybe more.

This first update was pushed out because we wanted it to be user friendly for the new Firecoin users and more stability for existing users.
