Could be buying a shitty gun based on looks or a movie, negligent discharge, operation error, or a ton of other stuff.

Me: Asked for a 10MM Lone Wolf barrel for my G20 for Xmas one year. Dropped it in the gun and didn't think much of it. G20 laid around for a month with the barrel in it until I went to the range. Tried to rack a round and it wouldn't go in. Inspect the barrel and turns out it's some shitty conversion barrel for some odd round. Lucked out that shit didn't go in and blow up in my hand. I don't change anything out to aftermarket anymore

Bought a sigma .40 when they first came out.And accidentally swept a friend while hunting. I was pretty disappointed in myself. I'm sure I've done it more than once though.

My bro and I were playing paintball in the garden. Were just shooting like tiles and stuff and then we tried to do a trickshot from call of duty, and my bro shot me in my leg and it was so frikken' painful Sad

Bought a .40 conversion for my p11, not really a mistake, but I only used it for 50 rounds before switching back to 9mm, then sold it for $15 less than I originally paid.

Shoot a RPG into the wall right in front of me in Half-Life 2. Died and lost a good time of games because was too lazy to save the game.

In 2011 I was in a gun store, they had an SKS in decent shape for 120 usd out the door with ascesories. I didn't know much about the SKS then, so I passed. Now the same gun would sell for at least 400 usd. I still regret not buying it.

In Boy Scouts when I was about 12 they let us fire some rifles. Then they gave me a rifle with black powder and laughed as I almost blew my arm off with the force of the shot. I had a huge bruise on my shoulder for a week from the butt of the rifle.

Guns have got nothing against blades (katana in this case). Tongue

My biggest blade related mistake would be (other than the money I spent on it Cheesy), not practicing with it as often as I'd like.

I accidentally fired shots, wait let me tell you the story

In west Philadelphia born and raised On the playground was where I spent most of my days Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all shootin some b-ball outside of school When a couple of guys Who were up to no good Startin making trouble in my neighborhood I got in one little fight and my mom got scared She said 'You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air' I whistled for a cab and when it came near The license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror If anything I can say is that this cab was rare But I thought 'Man forget it' - 'Yo homes to Bel-Air'

I pulled up to the house about seven or eight And I yelled to the cabbie 'Yo homes smell ya later' I looked to my kingdom I was finally there To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air

:p

What does that mean.. in terms of firing -  "stand my ground"  ??

Us Aussies aren't familiar with the terminology. Well at least I'm not.

Stand your ground= do not turn your back to a rampaging violent felon so he can shoot, stab, beat, etc. you in it, then take your self-defense tool off your incapacitated or lifeless body and use it to injure and kill others.

Most states by law say you can stand you ground and fight, if you feel you are in danger you do not have to retreat. You can meet force with force and then you will not be responsible for both law and court, as in you wont get charges and the family cannot sue for wrongfull death ect.

I don't own real gun so I can't speak from that perspective. But I do own airgun which can easily kill human, my biggest mistake was shooting while I was tipsy. Other than that I am quite responsible.

Not me personally: but when I was a kid, I saw my Dad being a dumbass racking rounds from a Colt .45 and the gun discharged, firing through and through his left leg, just above the knee, narrowly missing an artery and lodging the bullet into a piece of wood trim in our house.

I learned a lot about guns that day.
