Hi all,

Just a note to those having issues, I had no issues using intel CPU's on ubuntu.  If people are having issues with the inbuilt miner, why not use the separate CPU miner?  I am and it works perfectly

Well 50 blocks mined in the last 6 minutes...  I have a very healthy amount of power on this (several thousand cores) and have had...1 block in 20 minutes.  I think somebody somewhere either has a GPU miner already or has rented themselves a significant number of CPU's.  I'll be shutting down now

So basically this coin is borked and being raped by some unknown miner.

Moving on....

well it's a shame as it's been a while since we had a decent CPU-only (at least at launch) coin.

Dev, any comment?

"networkhashps" : 3175172

Well there's a clue...  given that the average cpu core is doing a little over 1 kh/s, if that value is correct then that's 3 million cores on it.  Which is not true.  So somebody somewhere is mining with something different.

You missed the average cpu hashrate by at least 5 fold. My CPUs give me something over 12Kh/s.

EDIT: Oh, and total hashrate is around 3501000 average CPUs. Like 100300-400 better ones.

Per core?  As in a quad core giving ~50 Kh/s?

Total. But network hashrate is in h/s. So divide your total number of cores/CPUs result by 1000 Wink

Edit, sorry, you said average core. You weren't wrong about that. But then again, /1000 still stands Smiley

LOL I read networkhashps as kh/s

so yeah only 3000 cores now.  well i have 2000 cores running.  And I'm not getting 2/3'rds of the blocks.  So it's still doesn't add up.  Time to stop mining.  Bring back XPM!!

CPUMiner Now Available see below | Or use wallet only mining - setgenerate true [processes]

NeoCortex - Coins for the Mind

Introducing the latest mining algorithm - NeoScrypt - with thanks to GhostLander for the creation of the algorithm.

Algo: NeoScrypt (profile 0x3)
Ticker Code: NEOC
Coin Name: neocortex (neocortexd and neocortex.exe)
Config Location: neocortex.conf

Block Rewards
10K NEOC Premine (Originally For Bounties - see below) in Block 1 - But Unintentionally discarded due to blockchain fork.
Blocks 2 - 99 - 2 NEOC
Blocks 100 - 499 - 20 NEOC
Blocks 500 - 20000 - 250 NEOC
Blocks 20000+ - Transaction Fees
Total Supply - 4893200 NEOC

The shorter plan for the block reward system, is to allow for an easy inclusion of PoS at some point after block 20,000 if the coin's value is sufficient to warrant it.

Use the following nodes to help connect if you are having issues: (add to bottom of neocortex.conf and remove your peers.dat file)

Code:
rpcport=25555
rpcuser=rpcuser
rpcpassword=rpcpass
addnode=107.170.90.55:36454
addnode=37.59.21.199:29030
addnode=107.170.165.93:58468
addnode=54.191.27.187:34347
Difficulty Algorithm
The same difficulty algorithm as in Monocle has been used for this coin.

Mining
As this coin NeoScrypt - no current GPU miner will work for this coin. The CPU miner from GhostLander is also untested with this coin's exact workings. Bounties (see below) will be provided.

Haha, tell me about it. I used to read it that way too and then I realised there is only one letter "K" in networkhashps Cheesy

CPUMiner Now Available see below | Or use wallet only mining - setgenerate true [processes]

For windows:
1. CPUMiner is NOT avaliable (because there is NO compiled miner, not all users are programmers Angry)
2. Wallet can only use 1 core. DEV! Why you write this "wallet only mining - setgenerate true [processes]"? I think you doesn't check it at all, because you have gpuminer.

Firstly, thanks to HankRules for his donation - the Bounties are reopened. (I will be updating OP again soon).

Now, looking at the blocks found, it does seem that a lot (well, relatively) of hashrate appeared on the network suddenly. This could potentially be EC2 cloud instances or such (this happens in most CPU coins, including Monero etc). If someone has made a GPU miner, hopefully they will submit it and obtain the bounty now that the bounties are back.

As for claims of gpu mining myself - if I had the capability to GPU Mine, I would be able to release the gpu mining software itself and thus make this presumably more popular - which would be far more valuable than just mining them on my own.

Currently, I have the premine bounty which is for bounty and services - as my i3 laptop processor isn't exactly high-end, I don't know how many blocks I would find with it.

I am not sure if it is a compilation issue or not, but I know that the source code when compiled on Linux does allow multi-core mining. So maybe the windows version was compiled with a single thread implementation? I didn't make this version, so I cannot confirm this.

If 'ascii' could reply in this thread and let us know if this is the case, we would appreciate it.

My IMHO:
This coin is SCAM

"My IMHO" means "My in my humble opinion".  The "My" is redundant.

Also, would you like us to call the waaahmbulance?

The wallet has mined OK on Windows since the beginning, even if it wasn't optimized it still hit blocks no worries.

After I am done with you, you will be banned from ever being on the internet again or even owning a PC

Tell that to a lot of other people that have the same problem. (I have mining all CPU coins and all of them use all cores in Windows, but this coin use only one core)

Who don't see any problem - that person have gpu-miner.
