Although I like BTC as much as the nice guy, this is something I would like to see everyone using.  Why don't you try these instructions:

There is GPG:  https://www.gnupg.org/

Download one appropriate for your Operating System (O.S.) and then you should also get Enigmail, a plugin for thunderbird so you can send and receive encrypted emails.
