When I say safe, I mean will it contract viruses/malware/wallet stealing trojans, etc on your computer? For example, I clicked on an ad from bitcoinwisdom that led to amazon... but i know it flashed another URL before that....
I'm sure any input would be greatly appreciated and helpful to a lot of us.

Depends, if the ad serves you Flash or Java content, or some malicious PDF, then maybe.

I think it is safe. About flashing another url, that is usually to update the click count on some database, I guess.

Nope, absolutely not i always use no flash and addblocker. This is how they display browse to Save Ads Pop-up. Even i would have no extension or whatsoever i would never click on those adds.

Personally I avoid it in every possible way, + I also avoid clicking on sponsored links through Google search , Few months ago there was a phishing blockchain app on top of Google search for search query " Blockchain app " , although they took it down after few reports. I recommend to use AdBlock Plus if someone is not using it yet. For Google Chrome : AdBlock PlusFor Mozilla Firefox: AdBlock Plus

It's not. Google doesn't really screen their ads. They've even put up fake blockchain.info phisihing links before.

But it's usually promoted sites on google that are the problem.

Google ads tend to review submisions more strictly. But besides that, there have been cases of phisong attempts through them. I'd recomend you to use adblock to avoid ads in general. Some other ads feature more controversial content, ransowmare and malware in many cases.

Yes, this is true. I'm doing Google ad words campaigns for my clients and Google ads really help their business by bringing visitors (who are searching for their offer) to their site. So, advertisers get more visits to their site and users more easily find what they are interesting for. Google s very strict with their ads so generally I think this ads are safe. If you have good antivirus program on your computer you don't need to worry to much.

They don't verify all their add customers, so there is aways a risk
Also you never know if the announcer is legit or not.
Better use addblock or just ignore them

ads in general should never be trusted because they can be the start of viruses and give you malware.
