Would you buy a hardware wallet?

i will never buy a hardware wallet only because it's not secured enough.
not even secure enough to convince me for using it.

I finally gave in and bought a HW.1 just last week... I wonder how i lived without it
It keeps my private keys as safe as using a paper wallet, while i can still use it without completely sweeping it and making a new one.

Why do you think they aren't secure?  What method do you use to store your bitcoin, that isn't a hardware wallet, and is secure?

I know, aren't they great!?  I couldn't believe it took me so long to finally buy one.  They are so cheap too.  It was the best bitcoin investment I have made for sure.

They're the best... I used to use an android wallet to keep pocket change, electrum to keep a couple hundred dollars worth of BTC and paper wallets to store my main funds... Paper wallets are great, but you have to keep on making them, sweeping them, trashing them,... In the end, it's a big hassle. Now, i've invested a lousy 18 bucks, and i'll never have to reboot with a live cd, unpack bitaddress, generate wallets, put them on a usb, print them, erase the usb,... Just pop in the stick, open the client and transfer

I must say that I really would like a hardware wallet to be honest, I think its pretty safe compared to a normal wallet its much safer for sure, I really have no doubts about buying this.

The ledger HW.1 costs 18 bucks, postage included... I think that shouldn't be to expensive

I would not buy it till the expansion of bitcoin and the proliferation of hacker attacks to the regular users. I think it is reasonably secure to hold wallets just in your pc right now.

I most likely will although I heard some good and bad things about it and I also heard its bad in some cases but I honestly would not care.
Its still much safer than a normal wallet.

Which country are you from? Most countries i know off don't seem to care about bitcoin, as long as you pay taxes on your deals

Russia, Ukraine, no matter, same law problems.
If you just use emoney to pay few times a month few dollars - nobody cares.
But if you use e-currencies in your business - take care of yourself.
I'm use them about 12 years, and, believe me, it was better, when most clerks don't know what is wm (btc etc.).
Now they know, but in their heads it's synonym of money laundering, unpaid taxes etc. No restrictions against BTC, WM directly yet (but in process). But small business has laws that say: you can accept cash and wire transfers only. Big companies has more complex laws and more tax audit too.

I'm sorry, but are you talking about a hardware wallet? Why wouldn't they be secure?
With a hardware wallet, your private keys are not accessible from the web, nor from a pc. They are stored on the hardware wallet itself, i think that's pretty secure. Worst thing that can happen is one of those virusses that replaces the address you want to send coins to when you copy/paste it from a mail or a website. But this risk is equally big with any kind of transaction you want to generate, so you always have to double-check.

If you ever decide to buy one, i just looked it up, and those ledgers are even cheaper when you buy them from India... Very strange, i payed more for a ledger sent within the EU as you would have to pay to get it shipped from the EU to india.

Its in my opinion very secure if you ask me because its offline, no hacker can achieve it to hack something that is offline...
A hardware is in my opinion pretty good to be honest.
