Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

New EMD Windows wallet available!

Latest EMD Win client version 0.8.6.1 is now available for download. Source code for linux should be on github within the next hour.

Win client is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2ySxqTClp06akFFdDhFS19pVnc/view?usp=sharing

This new client adds some new checkpoints and updates the distribution schedule for EMD. We are currently on block 3326710. The next reduction to 1 EMD per block will be at 3888001. Thereafter, the next block reduction will occur at block 4665601 and reduce the mining reward to 0.5 EMD per block.

The next reduction, at block 5443201 , will cut the reward to 0.25 per block. Finally, the last reduction will take the block rewards to 0.1 EMD at block 6220801 onward.

It took a bit over two years to get half the EMD total coins mined. With the new block reward schedule it will take approximately 75 years to mine the other half, making EMD a much more desirable currency without a ton of inflation.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, there are some other projects in the works to make EMD even more scarce and add to its value.

The new reward reductions are approximately 6 months apart. We are currently at 2.5 EMD/block and in just over two years time mining will only yield 0.1 EMD/block. The time to mine and accumulate EMD is now. It is going to become much harder to obtain large quantities very soon!

Fired up the new wallet. Its up & running with no problems.
8 Active Nodes, balances are there and chain is all synced.
Anti-virus scan came in clean as an angel. no problems there either.

Thank you dev.

now patiently waiting to withdraw my EMD that is stuck on cryptsy.

Please vote EMD on C-CEX exchange: https://c-cex.com/?id=vote

Merry Christmas! Ho ho ho!!

I'll send Mullick an email letting him know that there is new source code. Perhaps that will move EMD up his priority list at Cryptsy.

Thanks for voting. I've added the voting links to the OP, so they are easily found.  Wink

I've filed a support ticket with Cryptsy about the update. If some of you would also file support tickets it may help speed up the process. I have over 400K EMD sitting in Cryptsy that would feel much more at home in one of my personal wallets...  Wink

I am so glad that you're around and keeping us updated.
I really wanted to thank you for releasing the new client before Xmas and New Years.

There has been a few trolls trying to say that this coin is dead but in reality far from that, as long as we are here and work together.

As for cryptsy, it is sad to say but it seems they have some serious issues for the past month.
I have a pending btc withdrawl of 0.004 for about a week, its not looking good.
They have lost the trust of their loyal customers, even if they make it right. maybe a little too late.

I will continue to get EMD listed on all major exchanges. Bittrex is next after C-CEX

There really should not be any issues if you compiled the previous version in linux. There were no core changes that would make it not compile. The only changes made were added checkpoints, the new reward schedule and the version change.

I'll set up a build environment on one of my linux boxes and see what I can figure out. I've recently updated all of my computers and haven't had the time to create new build environments for everything, yet.

While we are on the subject of updates... I need any pool owners who have an EMD pool to send me a PM and I will include it in the OP. The list is out of date and I will be updating it soon. If you know of owners who have an EMD pool, be sure to contact them and let them know that there is a new source available and it is a mandatory update! Also, block explorers, exchanges and other services need to be notified of the update.

Thanks for the help in spreading the word.

About to upload the latest source to github, now.

Question 1 ... mandatory update?
Question 2 ... Why was I having such trouble syncing over the last couple months?  Could never sync, plus blocks downloaded slow, client would lock up ... now I am syncing like a charm, and this is the old version but it now works brilliantly.  Any ideas?

Was wondering where the dev was after a long period of hammered network issues over most of year 2015, but like I say now things look good, and if the new mining halving schedule is such, things look even mo betta for old EMD Wink

hello EMD community!

during the last days cryptsy seems to become unstable.

Also coinmarketcap.com has no data for the EMD coin.
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/emerald/#charts

so we need a new exchange place urgently.

cryptopia are offering discount on adding coins on cryptsy ..

"In light of the current climate over at Cryptsy and the influx in users looking for somewhere to go we are offering to list any coin currently listed on Cryptsy (Provided it meets our current standards) for 500,000 DOT each.

This offer is separate from the voting process, if you'd like to get a Cryptsy coin lised, please raise a support ticket."

500k DOT is a bit less than 0.1 BTC atm.

sounds very interresting! thank you for the information.

question:
who wants to participate in a support ticket to move EMD to cryptopia ?
my idea is, everyone who wants to participate commits here and take a small part of the 500k DOT in BTC, commits this here.
i can raise the support ticket at cryptopia, collect these amounts, buy DOTs and try to make EMD listed to cryptopia.
https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/492

currently the BTC/DOT price is 0.00000018
https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange

so we need about 0.1btc to get EMD into cryptopia listed

i start here the list of the EMD lover/supporter. feel free to add your name in the thread
in 48h (13.01.2016 - 03:15pm) i will stop this adding and every EMD lover/supporter will called to put his part in a btc address, which i will announce here.
after that i will get in touch with cryptopia and try to make EMD listed to cryptopia.
so, more EMD lover/supporter, less btc part for each one.

                            Hi,

It usually doesn't take very long, it depends on how long the coin takes to sync up.

Useful information are a large version of the coin logo, the source code repository on github and some nodes on the network.

Once you've transferred the DOT the coin will be listed as soon as possible.

    Cheers,

    Hex

    The Cryptopia Team

                            Hi,

Can't see any reason not to list this coin based on our standard for listing on Cryptopia.

Please transfer 500,000 DOT to me, and we will get the coin listed as soon as possible.

    Cheers,

    Hex

Let us move EMD to cryptopia too guys!
