I seriously think you are underestimating George Osborne, he's a very progressive thinker and definately understands the importance of keeping London as the No 1 spot for international finance. I very much doubt he will be anything but a friend to bitcoin in the UK. |

I very much doubt he will be anything but a friend to bitcoin in the UK. Only if they find a way to tax sales sold in Bitcoin. If they can't and they start losing VAT revenue, you can be 100% certain this friendship will quickly turn sour. |

Yeah, he's been progressively trying to screw every last penny of tax out of the UK for the last 4 years ... you should read up on some of the more draconian surveillance and extra-judicial powers that he has handed to the HMRC. In the great sweep of history he is basically a facist when judged objectively. Not to say that any other western politician has behaved any better, but to say he is leading edge or progressive is just plain BS. They are all beholden to the machinery of the State itself now .... and it is driven to desperation in its bankrupt machinations. If he is in favour of bitcoin it is because he does not understand what it has been designed to achieve. |

This creates a moral conflict for me. On the one hand, I can't stand the tories and think they're odious, corrupt, self-serving scum. But on the other hand, they appear to be supportive of bitcoin, so they've got one thing right at least. Still wouldn't vote for them or anything. I suppose purely by the law of averages they'd have to make something resembling a smart decision at some point.  |

The sad thing is, if you get involved (as I have) at grass roots party members are actually salt of the earth types that are committed to helping everyone, it's only the power grasping sleezebags on both sides that let them down. |
