This question was address previously by Drak. The basic answer was, if the population of XCH is lowered significantly the price of XCH services can be adjusted. For example, it is 1 XCH to create a contract. This could be changed to .1 or .01.

But, I don't think this will be needed for a long time. There's a lot of XCH out there.

What is the "population" of XCH? Who will "adjust" what prices? I thought it would be a market based solution? A change from 0.1 to 0.01 is a 90% loss to XCH holders. Who can "decide" that? Is there a Clearinghouse Politbuero?

Yep, there is, it's called the network. Whatever version 51% of the network runs is what will rule the coin. So, if the devs put out a release that drops the price to create or modify an asset and the miners run it, then viola.... it is done.

That said, don't shoot the messenger. I'm probably gonna post much less here. Answering questions that have been answered time and again is probably a waste of my and most of those that follow this threads time.

I've been asked to clarify when the conversion period ends: it's after block 251100 which should occur around 26th September 2014, so it's not long to go...

Btcdrak, I've had all transactions for my coin stuck in 'pending' on Clearinghouse for days. Furthermore, order books aren't showing up at all. Please fix ASAP.
JL

Same problem with me (I was buying XCH and selling Via). First it was "pending order". After some time I lost patience and logged out (in spite of warning). I logged in again without any delay. Suddenly the order was completed and I was prompted for payment. I clicked to pay with Via. Then again, waiting and waiting. I repeated  - logout and login - and everything was OK.

I remember the same bug from counterwallet

same bug for me too.
it was very difficult to use Clearinghouse, i must login/logout several time, wait two hours ("pending order") and suddenly one order was completed but not the other one. very disappointed. Huh

You must understand that trades that involve you buying something for VIA require you remain logged in. An automatically settlement escrow is in the works though. Any other asset pair will settle automatically.

Thanks, I know this. The problem is, if you remain logged in, you can wait forever with "pending order". Logging out and then logging in is necessary to see some progress. Even if Clearwallet says "Don't log out!", you have to do it. This is confusing.

Yes, there appears to be some confusion here.  I can confirm, there seems to be a bug in Clearwallet where new orders stay in pending forever, regardless of whether they've been processed into the blockchain or not.  It didn't used to be this way, but it's been broken for at least a week or so now.

Yes, Clearwallet has been broken for over a week by my count. It doesn't load order books or completed trades on my coin and order-matching just doesn't happen.
And btcdrak, you can't blame this on logging out or closing the browser because I've kept my computer on for over 24 hours and have been making sure I'm still logged in and still no one has successfully bought my coin and I have many PM's asking why it's not going through.
Seriously, you have a major bug and need to fix ASAP please.
JL

Edit: And just got this error trying to load account history: failoverAPI: Call failed (failed over across all servers). Method: get_raw_transactions; Last error: Request Time out.

I own a DASH Masternode.... And you should too.

the dogeparty guys are having the same issue i think with the balances on the page not updating. regular counterwallet also gets tons of time out errors.

ok seems like eventually the balance did update after about 30 or so minutes, and i was able to do a conversion.  now i need to wait for the client to update again.

I could be wrong but it seems like some caching issue combined with something else.

I've pushed a new version of clearwallet.co live. This should solve some of the ordering issues with the distributed exchange some people were reporting. It also prepares the way for the Blockchain Notary service which is having some UI issues worked out at the moment.

I also tweeted to remind people we're at block ~230000 and the XCH conversion period ends at block 251100 which looks like it will fall on 28th September. So this will be your last chances to get distribution direct from the protocol.
