What fan do we get? (this determines db, so matters for us in home miners).
doggie says it's very quiet... I turned everything else off during a maintenance and okay, its less quiet than I thought, but its still very quiet. Its constant RPM as far as I can tell (40C same sound as 20C) and is extremely reasonable. I'd have these in a living room or bedroom noise wise. got a db noise meter? even an app on a smart phone might be good enough... I've got a professional sound meter, but I stopped using them because its too subjective. I'll go take one now if you really want it though. Edit: Okay, there was a really strange second frequency on the fan which was being masked by my ventillation fans, and it was only when I turned them off that I found it. It may have something to do with it being a 3 bladed impeller than gives it a different profile, but its rather loud. But loud in a different, non penetrating, non high pitched way. Very hard to explain the profile of that sound. Reading is 65-68 dba at 40cm, ambient of 25.

I think he want to say that the sound is not annoying despite it is loud.

Yeah, sort of. Fan noise we're used to get higher pitched and more and more annoying and penetrating (through walls, floors etc) the faster the fan goes. This fan is loud-er, but in a very unusual way. The tone is low-medium which isn't something I'd have thought could go along with this noise level. I checked everything else in case there was something vibrating but its just the fan. I would revert my statement to say men would be okay with it in a living room far away from a TV, wives wouldn't. I personally could sleep with the unit [hard core SP10 training], most people couldn't.

From the specs, it says:
Powering: 1-2 6pin PCI-E plugs per hashing unit. A full set of device consists of: 4 hashing Units
So: What PSU do you recommend for this puppy ?? Is there even one with 8 PCI-e ? Do the PCI-e in CHAIN count for 2 ?

1 is enough. 2 is for safety in case you don't have good cables, 2 also brings less cable power loss.

It's of course better than just 1 cable with 1 PCI-e, because the current on each PCI-e connector is halved.

This might be a dumb question, but does this need a computer / mining software to run? Or can I just plug the ethernet cable into my router and start hashing?

Becaus the'r in chain though ... a cheap psu is a no go. here is a good one. http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1300G2-ATX12V-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408066862&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+1300has power to spare it is 189 and here is a rebate form. http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/00/00/56/94/63/11/5694631110._V345065786_.pdf20 off you are at 169. has six cables power to spare. has a magic psu short plug not a paperclip. my guess is this will do the trick, not that dogie's rm1000 is bad. but price is equal and these have been studs for lots of miners.. if you can beat the price with the rm1000 it will work fine.

Seriously, can you stop posting every one of your posts over 20 lines, you do it every where for no reason. Its so annoying as it makes your posts take up so much space for no reason. You don't need to break the line twice when you use a full stop, simply add a space before you start the next sentence please.

Sheesh dogie, you too? Everyone is grumpy & jumpy today! Is it the BTC price drop? :/ I noticed philipma's unique writing style, the odd spaces here and there, the big multi line gaps between paragraphs, it niggled but I thought maybe he uses something other than a keyboard to type with, or there is some other sort of limitation. Felt sorta rude to ask, but he has been posting like this since 2012. Searing is another one with a unique style of prose, but he's sorta endearing as well so I just grit my teeth and bear with it sometimes.

gee.. +8Th for barely $5000. do they give a separate address for each person to send to when making purchases? I cant imagine you are the only person who has bought miners but I only see 10 BTC in there so far
