<snip>
Bill Murray and the Murray Bros Foundation have not officially endorsed Murraycoin yet, but that's a very big yet. Murraycoin was given the green light as far as being its own separate entity, so it's not like there will be any Coinye-esque lawsuits.
<snip>

Could you please elaborate on this, specifically on what you mean by "yet"?

If Bill Murray, the star of iconic flicks such as Lost In Translation, Ghostbusters, Caddyshack, GroundHog Day and many more, endorses this coin in any form, shape or manner, the marketcap will zoom pass all other coins except Bitcoin.
The dev doesn't even need to do any marketing - businesses will run to him.
That's how influential Murray is.

If I'm being honest here, I would say this is all BS. But I am prepared to be proven wrong.

"Yet" means he might endorse the coin at some point, or he might not. The lead dev of Murraycoin has stayed in contact with the Murray Bros Foundation since Murraycoin's inception, and apparently they were in "sounds interesting, we'll think about it" mode but decided not to give the official endorsement at the time (around March, when they had the annual charity golf tournament). The idea is, however, that if Murraycoin becomes valuable and becomes sustainable on its own, the foundation stands to make a decent amount of money and it would be very plausible that Bill would endorse it, thus sending Murraycoin's value even higher.

If you have time, read through the pages of the Murraycoin announcement thread, the dev does a decent good job of explaining the situation at various points on the timeline since its release.

But anyway... think about those Bill Murray shirts & stickers that The Chive sells. They sell like hot cakes, I see them everywhere... Bill doesn't "officially endorse" The Chive but they have permission to use his face without paying him for it. However, The Chive is one of the sponsors of the annual golf tournament (i.e. they give money to the Murray Bros Foundation), so it's a mutually beneficial thing going on between the two.

(i) TheChive was approached asked to make those t-shirts. They have a contract.

(ii) Could you post the email from the Bill Murray Foundation here? If the content is as you say, you will see an immediate price spike.

(iii) Personality rights is no laughing matter. Just because Murray hasn't filed a suit against the dev, don't assume he won't. For all we know, he doesn't even know of Murraycoin's existence. After all, Murray is known to be a recluse. At one time, his agent mentioned that Murray lost out on a few roles because he could not be reached. Keep in mind that the Coinye dev was boastful during the early days, but when the legal letter came, he quickly disappeared.

(iv) If the Murray Foundation is interested to make money from crypto, what is stopping them from hiring a dev for a few thousand dollars and keeping all the premine to themselves, instead of hoping that some anonymous dev will donate something to the Foundation? Consenting to such an arrangement would also make the Foundation liable to any misrepresentation or wrongdoing on the part of the developer. I hardly think Bill Murray would be open to all of this.

Sorry, but as of now, this sounds really sketchy. You should advise the dev that there are few countries in the world that will protect him against a civil suit from an American court.

Your concerns are legitimate. Unfortunately, I don't have emails from the foundation or other proof, I'm just going off what the dev has said.

I'm not trying to convince anyone that Murraycoin is the ultimate bestest altcoin ever and you need to go out and buy it all up, I was mostly just trying to get people involved, maybe some of whom hadn't even heard of it yet. A few people seem pretty pumped about MileyCoin, maybe they'd like to get into MRY? I'll send some Murraycoin to anyone who has anything of value to contribute to the cause, be it a YouTube video, some artwork, a simple video game integrating Murraycoin, etc.
If they're concerned about Murraycoin's future, they can just convert their bounties into BTC via Cryptsy.
