There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

The mobo has ONE 16X slot, and THREE 1X slot, so yes you can use 4 cards total on there but needs atleast Three 1X extension cables.

I'm interested in the Molex > PCI-E power and PCI-E > double 8pin PCI-E (?) adapters.

Was wondering wondering if the molex ones are single molex > pci-E or double molex > PCI-E, and if only 2 12v pins are attached in the PCI-E plug or all 3 are attached.

Also do you mind explaining the PCI-E > PCI-E plug? Is it effectively allowing you to draw 300W from a single PCI-E plug designed to only supply 75W (8 pin = 150w * 2 = 300w)?

So I took some pics of what I have:
Top row: 1 Molex to 1 PCIE 6Pin (8 available)
Right side: 2 Molex to 1 PCIE 6pin (5 available)
Bottom row from left: PCIE 6pin to 2x 8pin splitter (2 available)   6pin to 8pin PCIE ( 1 available)

http://i47.tinypic.com/2unualj.jpg

The PCIE splitter was purchased from newegg.com for 6.99 each plus shipping.

NOW, these splitter are NOT going to make your 300W PSU into 600W, but as long as you know your 12V rails have enough amps to support these wattage you will be perfectly fine. ie, I run 3 GPUs on a single rail 800W without any problem using these converter/splitters.

Believe me, I try to use quality power supplies with a strong 12v rail. I have a PC Power & Cooling 1000W Turbocool which has 82A on 12v but only 4 PCI-E power plugs. I also have a HALE90 750W with 62A on 12v with the same 4 PCI-E Power. I'm nowhere near capacity right now (1200w used across 1000w + 750w + crappy 550w multirail) and need to use all available molex. I've seen SATA > PCI-E but those are expensive Sad

I'm interested in the 8x single molex > PCI-E power. 2 coins shipped to zip code 54501? I bought 10 double molex > PCI-E and realized it was too many molex for too little PCI-E, but I really don't feel like asking for a refund; that would just be asshole-ish of me.

Sorry I won't be taking returns on this deal, but I'll be glad to walk you through my exact setup with windows to get all 4 cards working if you want.

Also for the 1X risers, if those are just standard extenders maybe you can try to short 2pins as shown in this thread:

So it seems I have one unhappy customer up until this day, Here's what happened:

1. Sold him a Motherboard + CPU combo on May 16th.
2. Shipped the next day & arrived 3 days later.
3. Two weeks later he sent me a message telling me the board doesn't work with BAMT(a pre-built BTC mining software) & calling me a liar because he can't get 4 GPUs to work with the Mobo on linux.
4. Now he's hinting about "making a big deal on the forums" & demanding for a full refund shipping included.

Now I'm not very familiar with linux mining, but I've been happily mining with the board on windows with multi-GPU since last year. I've built many multi GPU rigs and I do have a few theories of what went wrong with his setup, unfortunetely he refuses to work with me. Weather this board is just incompatible with Linux(highly unlikely), or maybe his just incompetent at building rigs.

Part of me just want to refund him and get it over with, it's a small transaction after all. At the same time, I don't appreciate being called a liar and threatened to "a big deal on the forums". So far, everyone I've dealt with on the forums are happy with what they received, so I'll keep it open and post what happened to see everyone's opinion before making a decision.

Probably a combination of impatience and incompetence. Sad

BAMT should work fine, but if it doesn't just crack windows and use that.

Yeah, I've fulfilled my part of the deal by delivering exactly what I've posted as a seller.
Anyways here's the some of the PM logs, I surely hope he doesn't make this too big of a deal on the forums  Embarrassed

I am disappointed in how a hero member proceeded to lie to me. I want to know why this board, that you said could work with 4 cards, only works with 1. I don't want to make a big deal about this in the community and want it to be solved by us.

Hey man, the gigabyte board cant even use BAMT. Return policy?

Sorry for the late response, meant to respond sooner but memorial weekend tied me over.

I have never lied about anything, I've been mining for at least 6 months on this particular board, with 3 Radeon Cards ( 4 GPUs total, a 5970 + 2x 5830 ), I'm sure it'll take 4 cards  as it has 4 PCIE slots total but didn't want to stress my PSU at that time.

I'm sorry to hear that BAMT didn't work, to be honest I didn't even know what BAMT stands for until I googled it). I used windows with GUIMiner, as I'm not familiar with linux at all. Anyways the point is, I don't think I should be responsible for every software incompatibilities you encounter. I've shipped my items exactly as described, and things appear to be in working order, hardware wise.

Just for reference, Quotes from my sales thread:

I wouldn't take it personally, m8. His somewhat 'short' msg on the 31st was probably just out of frustration with his issue more so than you. You'd have to ask him about that maybe after you 2 settle the issue.
If it was me I'd probably just refund, less shipping and sell it to someone else. If I was the buyer I'd either make it work or resell it and just list the newly found info that it may require some tweaking in BAMT/*nix to work.

cheers

If you're not excited by the idea of being an early adopter 'now', then you should come back in three or four years and either tell us "Told you it'd never work!" or join what should, by then, be a much more stable and easier-to-use system.

BAMT should work fine, but if it doesn't just crack windows and use that.

This board has failed all attempts to boot BAMT. I ended up using xubuntu, and even then, I could only get one card at a time running. I have 3 other boards running 3+ cards all on BAMT. Trust me if I were incompetent, I would not have tried to load linux or even buy the board. Oh, and I probably spend about 25 hours in 1 week to try and get it running.

d.james's part doesn't even matter to me anymore. I just want to get this out of my hands and to someone that might be able to use it. I'll return it out of my pocket, and I never said you should pay for shipping james. Just let me know.

No, part of my aggression and anger there is due to the fact i've seen him logging in several days in a row without replying or addressing the issue.
