A few questions:
1. How is that some users have green ratings publicly shown while others have trusted feedback but their public trust is not green (eg me)
2. How does one get this green trust?
3. How are the numbers for this trust calculated?

A few questions:
1. How is that some users have green ratings publicly shown while others have trusted feedback but their public trust is not green (eg me)
If the feedback is from someone I trust according to my trustsettings [1] it is shown in green. If its from someone else its not. 2. How does one get this green trust?
Since its not the same for everyone, there is no definite way. I assume however that most people never change their trustsetting. So in order to get "green" trust you need a positive rating from someone that is trusted by DefaultTrust (alt of theymos) e.g. theymos, escrow.ms, BadBear, etc. But those are not the only people everyone trusts by default if the settings are not changed. IIRC the default depth is 2, so this would also work for everyone that is trusted by (e.g.) theymos. So e.g. gmaxwell, phantastisch or CanaryInTheMine. You can see the complete list under your settings. 3. How are the numbers for this trust calculated?
More details about that here [2]. [1] https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust[2] https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.0

The system is pretty dam confusing. In general, just have good transactions consistently, and over time you'll eventually turn green. People with high number of green scores can influence your rating more than someone with no score (or someone in the red). Of course, this is assuming you keep the default trust list.

1. I believe the color of the trust rating depends on whether the person viewing the rating trusts the feedback given to the person they are looking at, which for most people means that someone trusted by DefaultTrust trusts them. 2. Gain the trust of someone on the default trust list; easier said than done, however. 3. It's difficult to explain, but not too complicated. Take a look at the trust system thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.0

Though that feedback is put in the "Trusted feedback" region, OP's trust is still in black 0: -0 / +1(1)

Yeah thats another thing, its mentioned under the "more details here link" trust decays over time. devthedev 1: -0 / +5(5) 2013-12-16
The trust rating from devthedev is from 12/2013 I got several positive ratings (not from people on the default trust list) yet my trust would probably show to you and anyone else as: as if I never got any rating at all. Thats because the ratings are to old to stil contribute to the shown numbers.

The trust rating from devthedev is from 12/2013 Isn't it quite the reverse? I checked the thread [2] and found the following: On feedback pages, you can leave trade feedback. There are no rules for this, but here are some guidelines: - List all of the trades that you do with people (or at least the major ones). This is not like #bitcoin-otc where you give people just one score. - Do not rate people based on the quality of their posts. - Older ratings count for more, so don't delete old ratings if you can avoid it. - "Risked BTC" is how much money you could have lost if the person you're rating had turned out to be a scammer. Or, if they are a scammer, it's how much you lost. Use the BTC value at the time of reporting. - It's OK to post a rating about the person in general, not tied to a specific trade. - If you want to make a rating stronger, increase "Risked BTC". 50 extra risked BTC is equivalent to an additional rating.
So an old positive feedback from someone on the trust list should make your trust score even more positive, shouldn't it?

if you are added to default trust everyone will see you as green. if someone who trusts you looks at your profile they see you as green.

So an old positive feedback from someone on the trust list should make your trust score even more positive, shouldn't it? Hmm yes thats true, but on the other hand theymos also wrote: -snip- The first number is the user's trust score calculated based on how consistently they've received positive feedback. -snip-
and: -snip- Probably no one will get a score above 0 until the system has been around for at least a month. -snip-
Idk, maybe one of the mods/admins can help us out here.

50 accounts with zero posts, all giving trust to the same guy. Yeah, no one will notice

Trust makes no difference, I could make 50 accounts and give myself trust, trust means nothing at all.
And so the trust feedback are split into the category "trusted" and "untrusted". Untrusted feedback (feedback from people not on the trust list) have little impact. And if the feedback are from 50 new accounts, there probably are some adverse effect.
