Your body paralyzes itself when you sleep to keep you from acting out your dreams. However, it is possible to wake up while still paralyzed; many people who have experienced this claim they felt a malevolent presence nearby. This is where most alien encounter stories come from.

Forgive my petulance and oft-times, I fear, ill-founded criticisms, and forgive me that I have, by this time, made your eyes and head ache with my long letter. But I cannot forgo hastily the pleasure and pride of thus conversing with you.

Fun fact
65 billion neutrinos, pass through every one square centimeter of Earth, every second,
So multiply that out and you can see quite a few more are actually passing through your body right now.
It's true, how do you feel about that......

Are you talking about sleep paralysis? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysisI've heard that this is also a possible "side effect" when you try lucid dreaming. Although it lasts only a short amount of time, it is very uncomfortable. I've also heard that one should not look at a mirror while in such a dream?

I don't remember ever trying to do so myself, but supposedly, the only problem with looking at a mirror while dreaming is you won't necessarily see yourself, but rather, a distorted image of yourself, which may startle you (and lead you to either waking up, or falling into a normal dream). As for sleep paralyses, in some cases (particularly when pathology is involved), it may apparently last quite longer than "a short amount of time": https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=965301.

Well yes, while in a lucid dream. What if you see your face melting or something? Your brain wouldn't handle that nicely. You wake up bit a bit terrified indeed. That's quite interesting. I've never experienced one myself I believe. Has the exact cause of this been identified?

Christians want you to believe that a 600 year old man kept 15,000,000 animals on a ship for 400 days without food and water. Atheist alert.

Here's what really happened: Several billion years ago, all the mass currently in the universe was contained inside a particle smaller than an atom, than ... KABOOB! "I solved the Vod Conjecture!"

Actually, bigasic played a joke on Vod: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1045937.msg11371899#msg11371899. And, I believe I just fucked up Curtis' movie contract deal.
