Trust me, A few years back my dad had a flat rate taxi service, there was a lot of these little companies around, one guy even spent 150k just to do a feasability study as he was instructed to do and proved that it was feasible to implement... he got shot down of course. now if you read the little stickers on the taxi cabs... you'll notice that there is a notice that flat rate taxis are prohibited by by-law.
The government began to crack down on all 200 companies in the province of British Columbia citing that they were affecting the taxi cab industry and the job loss was intolerable... over 100,000 people lost their jobs in one fallow swoop of a pen. My dad was lucky enough that he fell under a
Grandfather clause, he had made the first company with the model that other taxi companies followed. They continued their assault relentless, he even got papers through freedom of information with citations on how they were going to screw him over... well they succeeded, started attacking his business from every angle that they could after that, lawyers wouldn't even take the case for fear of going against the government, saying this had little chance of succeeding it would be in the courts for decades.
I've lived long enough to see this happen over and over again... and it's nothing but a paragraph in a news paper buried under advertisements, no help will come.
All the little old ladies, the poor,and down trodden complained about the injustice, for 3 dollars they could go anywhere in the city, and be helped in unpacking their groceries, bring friends to places they could barely afford to go, and not wait out in the cold Canadian winters for a bus... their cries went unheard in the newspapers.

Some thirty odd days ago, the large actors ( Those who will securitize / profit massively from BTC) understood two existential imperatives lay before them:
1) Manage an orderly exit of China, one that would not spook the ‘mainstream’ prospective investor base.
2) Buy up the china coins in an orderly way as they were dumped into the market, preserving a base level price that would be A) credible to potential fund investors and B) consistantly and conveniently far beneath their near term target valuation of BTC, thus handsomely fleshing out their position.
Enter the bot army. We have been watching the algorithm that is the expression of the above, a cool steady pinging of a controlled transfer of wealth.
And like the limiting bars of sheet music, the channel is laid. A market that clearly wants to correct / crash does not. Rallies that might rise from the ashes do not.
All hail the overlords.

“Spook”: How can this word be so bad? If you’ve ever celebrated Halloween, you’ve used some version of it. What is now used regularly to mean “ghost” or to frighten is also a slur akin to “n--ger.” It may have its origins in the perception that dark skin blends into the night, making black people ghostlike. Scarily racist.
I just remembered an email forward that I received several years ago. If you've seen this already, please disregard, but I find it an interesting thought. Now, to be fair, I can't imagine the daunting task running the country must be, and I am sure most politicians at least start out with good intent.

545 vs. 300,000,000 People

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? John Boehner. He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.
If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it's because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan.
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy","inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess.

The vibe I got from Vessenes and several others was that they would attempt to steer Bitcoin in whatever direction was necessary to maximize business use scenarios, even if that meant changes and prioritizations at the expense of decentralization and privacy for individuals. My clear take after this event is that that the code & network will at some point fork between those who see Bitcoin as a vehicle for political change, versus those who want Bitcoin to be sanitized into just a cheaper PayPal/SWIFT. Those two visions are simply not compatible in the long run.

Up until the last 20 years of his life, my dad was a racist, hating most non-white/European races. When I was younger, I heard him say the word 'nigger' on a regular basis, and never in the kind sense. At some point in my mid-teens I vowed to not be a racist, in spite of attending an all-white high school in rural Indiana where being Dutch were the ones picked on, i.e., "If you ain't Dutch, you ain't much!" I believe that's the worst I've ever over-heard pertaining to the folks who lived in DeMotte, IN. To be fair, I've said it a many times to my Dutch friends, whereupon we laughed together and carried on with whatever we were doing.
If I had a such hatred toward Blacks and Jews, the same sentiment should've carried over to the autistic adults I contribute to here in the Sandwich, IL, area, regarding them as nothing but useless retards being a plight on society and should be used for target practice.
