I have an alienware m15x and m17x.

I sent my m15x in for repairs since I broke the charger pin inside the charger port.
This happened LAST YEAR FEBRUARY(2013) so we sent it back to the store I got it from, I only got it back this year and the store that I bought it from just gave me a new charger(all under warranty) and they still haven't fixed the port. It still charges anyway so that's fine.
But back to the topic;

I got it back now and I am not sure whether to Upgrade them to windows 8. Is it worth it?

Currently running on Windows 7.

Windows 8 is a piece of shit only if you install other applications in order to do simple things then it might be fine otherwise it's time wasting and bloated system.

Have the same thought of it too, I was hoping if there was somebody who could convince to me install it.

Well I know that there is a new edition of windows coming out this september, wasn't able to remember the name.

I think that windows 8 is suited for touchscreen devices.

No need to install windows 8. Stick with 7 better than that in every way possible.

I don't think so, i tried Windows 8 but it was a complete disaster augh that metro ui they call it was really bad
and i was using it on a touchscreen laptop so that was even worse. As other said stay with Windows 7 for the time being.

Stay with Windows 7 I'm sure many of us would have stayed with Windows XP if they hadn't essentially forced users to upgrade by ditching support for it, one thing I will say about Windows 7 is it's a lot easier to install.

Agreed windows 8 is horrible unless you wish for a mobile phone looking layout on your desktop.  You dont even get a start button with it to navigate, there are hacks to give you a start button but they aren't ideal.

ATM im trying to get up to speed with linux.

I didn't see any advantage to move to a windows 8, as for windows 9, I don't know but if it is more cloud orientated they won't see me.

I will use windows 7 till microsoft stops with supporting it. Windows 8 is good for tablets, but that's all.

I hope windows 9 will give us a better desktop experience, I don't want tile interface on my desktop.

True to this.  Win8 is like 50gb too.

Please, stay with win7, you'll be only happy. Or better, go for Linux (dualboot if gaming).

Windows 8 is simply horrible, 7 works nice, faster and easy to install and use.
