I read a lot here and there about Crypto as currencies, bitcoin as currency and how it might change the way people do business etc... I see a lot of great innovations recently like nxt, qtl, stealth coins and so on...

But i have the feeling people are holding to their coins, or trading them in hope for profit, and dont actually consider buying anything with it, not to mention it's really hard to get some coins today.
No one wants to be the guy who spent $1 000 000 on a slice of pizza.

How do you think bitcoin & cryptos will bring value to traditional /e-commerce, how can it grow mainstream if evryone holds in hope for the 100000$ bitcoin ?
What do you think people would be ready to risk spending their bitcoins for ?

I've been spending (and earning) bitcoins since 2011. The most bitcoins I've spent on a single purchase was a domain name for $300 when they were about $2 each. Which means I'm already the guy who spent 150 BTC (currently worth over $71,000) for a domain name that I don't even use.

I may be Bitcoin poor (relatively speaking), but I'm one of the Bitcoin economy's most active supporters.

Still around.
According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

On a regular basis, I spend Bitcoin on domain names through Namecheap. I also often purchase gift cards to Papa John's and CVS through Gyft.com, and use those to purchase things.

Whenever I travel with my family I buy my plane tickets, book my hotel, and rent a car with Bitcoin through cheapair.com.

When Bitcoin is rising in price, I tend to hedge my gains by purchasing precious metals through amagimetals.com.

I've made purchases from Overstock.com, TigerDirect.com, and NewEgg.com since they started accepting bitcoin.  I've subscribed to the Chicago Sun-Times since they started accepting bitcoin (and called their customer service to thank them and explain my reason for subscribing). I've switched from Comcast to Dish Satellite service since they started accepting bitcoin (and explained to both Comcast customer service and Dish my reason for switching). I order my take-out pizza from Rosati's since they started using Menufy and accepting bitcoin (and explained to the restaurant manager my reason for purchasing from them when I picked up my pizzas).

Businesses that accept bitcoin will win my loyalty over their competition, and they'll know it.

How does Menufy work? I wasn't aware of them, so I just checked them out. I thought they would be a service like Foodler, but it seems like what they do is integrate their order/payment system on business's websites.

Is there a list of Menufy restaurants somewhere? I'd like to see if there are any in my area. Smiley

Yep. As far as I can tell, that's what they do. Here's one example in the Chicagoland area:

I'm just spending bitcoin on altcoins for right now, I don't see any use of spending it other than that.

Well, I only traded a small portion on my BTCs for fiat, but I mosty use to buy DRM-free software and games.
And no, I don't hold a good amount of BTCs. If BTC is money, I'll use it at its purpose. I only hold a few bitcents(not even 1BTC in the day when it was only 15$, nothing compared to the ones that have more than 10BTC and yet stills to hold them.

Nothing wrong to the people that hold, but the more we use, the more options we could bring to us, since they could see that accepting Bitcoin is profitable.

I used bitcoins to pay for some software keys in the market and to buy new miner hardware. I also exchanged some to buy altcoins.

It is the only thing I now use to buy on the internet. If someone had a really great deal on something I need I might hold my nose and use a debit card, but mostly that is a thing of the past for me.
I don't understand how people "get" bitcoin unless they are using it. Online transactions are what bitcoins do better. I suppose some people collect cool cars and never drive them also, but what fun is that?

I've used bitcoins a few times for real spending... bought a graphics card, bought a cam (for climbing), both transactions went smoothly.

I generally spend my bitcoins only to get Western union or moneygram funds. Kind of investment in my opinion. I also pay with bitcoins for virtual services like graphic work or webpage design.

A huge amount of bitcoins is used for buying other cryptocoins. It's almost the only thing I've used it for. Played some rounds on dragons tale but its a losing game.
