From her email to me, she mentioned that alot of sbux cards are crapping out instantly or in a few hours (unlike before).  She said once there is a "fix" then she'll be back on here ready to sell.  ETA is unknown tho  Undecided

What changed?!? What did starbucks do on their end??

Not sure that it has anything to do with Starbucks -- although it could. That would be impossible to determine. One possibility is that the latest batch was "old", meaning the period of time from which these cards had been purchased (fraudulently) was significantly longer than with previous batches. My thinking is that most chargebacks occur once the credit card statement arrives -- weeks later. In this case, those weeks of lag didn't exist.

Just one possibility, anyway.

It would be unlikely , but since they are carded, I think starbucks goes through the request of unauthorized card usage in a queue. Since the problem might be increasing for them, they are likely to be doing this in a quick manner to minimize losses due to carding. If the dealy is on the customer end delaying in reporting the unauthorized usage, then its unlikely they will be able to expedite the cancellation on those cards.

One thought that occurred to me is this. I recall reading a post by a former bulk gift card seller. Normally, when unauthorized purchase is tied to a gift card, only the gift cards tied to it (through transfers) are shut down. This guy said that after a certain period of success, law enforcement was able to tie batches of unauthorized purchases of cards by his distributor, and virtually his whole supply of live cards was quickly shut down.

Maybe something similar.

In your guys opinion, which seems to last longer... Egift codes vs login account (email/password).

Say you receive a $50 balance.  Which one would u rather have??

Frankly I'd rather not login to someone else's account or a fake account loaded with money from a stolen credit card and knowingly steal gift cards or product from that credit card connected to that account.  That is pretty blatant and is obvious theft tied to directly you.  What if SBX was able to trace your use of a stolen account (credit card) by connecting a purchase with a photo from a store camera? **IF** they wanted to I have no doubt they could.  At least when you get an e-gift there is SOME semblance of your LACK OF knowledge of how they are obtained despite how obvious even that is.  You could at least plead ignorance by saying you thought you were getting a good deal.  Tongue Tongue

Ignorance of the law does not excuse you from it. THey will prosecute you the same if they believe you knew about it when you bought it. You could say you got it from a friend or raise.com or any of those sites since most of those are stolen cards as well.

It doesn't matter what they believe. It's what they can prove. They need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you intended to receive stolen goods. Simply using a gift card is not proof, by any means, of intent.

Buying cracked accounts, on the other hand, is illegal, and would show intent. I would suggest buying gift cards, not accounts.

"They" couldn't prove O.J. guilty so I'm not worried about buying cheap cards.  ACCOUNTS is another thing.

I hear ya, but an "excuse" can be:

"But officer, I purchased this card from a seller on craigslist that needed cash and wanted to sell me their balance/account"

** Wouldn't that be good enough??

I highly doubt your local police department is going to give a shit that you used a hacked gift card balance. Starbucks wouldn't even waste their time with an investigation they just disable the accounts.

^^ the discussion is about gift cards vs. accounts. buying an account seems iffy, because it is clearly someone else's account, under someone else's name.

gift cards, on the other hand, are meant to be transferred between people.
