Just use p2pool & make your node public - that way you don't need the hosting, you'll be helping the network, you're in control, no late payments & no reliance on a centralized pool staying up or disappearing  Wink

Yeah, Murdof & Kyros done a great job on it. All we need now is a windoze installer that does the same thing......

Not seen you around much lately zvs - you thinking of rejoining p2pool again? Exciting times ahead..... Wink

Well, I was considering setting up a Litecoin pool with DOGE merged mining (maybe some others, but not too concerned about those since they're worth some tiny fraction of DOGE)... but w/ existing p2pool, I don't think that can be done.  It would need a signup of some sort to get the person's DOGE payout address & connect that to the Litecoin address they're mining to.  I guess I could use something like MPOS but not really keen on that, hah

ed: oh, and my doge node is like 5-10% more efficient then any of the others, outside of a few that are probably mined locally, like taken.pl:22552/static/ ... orphan control!   i've also seen more misinformation about lowest ping time being best, my node tells it like it is =p

ed2: like whomever is on http://p2doge.bkhashing.co:22550/static/  would have made a lot more money on my pool, even if that node is local/close to them.  sure, the DOA is low, but the orphan rate is insane.   shame I'll be shutting it tomorrow  Undecided

That's not entirely accurate.  Murdof and Kyros did a great job of turning p2pool installation into a simple script that would download, compile, and setup p2pool, BTC, NMC, DVC, IXC, I0C, FSC, HUC.  It does not, however, actually do anything to automate merge mining payouts.

The merge mining payouts are still as they were.  If you hit a block of one of the merge-mined coins, it goes to the wallet address that was created when you built and ran the coin daemon.  There is no way to distribute the merge-mined coins to miners automatically.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

The general advice is if you need help to setup a pool then you shouldn't be setting one up. Millions of dollars worth of hardware are being entrusted to successful pools. If you had millions of dollars to put into the bank, would you go to a bank which just posted a request "Hi I need help setting up a bank, can anyone tell me how to do it?".

Setting up a p2pool node on the other hand is far less risky to the potential miners, as has been recommended here.
