I think nobody would claim him as satoshi nakamoto
becuase thief & bad people will use bad ways to have his bitcoin

If you want proof, just ask : please send 1 million bitcoin to my address now  Grin

Ya that would not be something he would be willing to do.

He has a known PGP key that he could use to sign a message with. This is actually how he would be able to regain access to his account on here as theymos has the account locked

I think it is ironic that the bitcointalk forum is primarily using a PGP key as a verification method then a bitcoin signature would work just as well.

+1

https://bitcointalk.org/Satoshi_Nakamoto.asc
http://bitslog.wordpress.com/2013/04/17/the-well-deserved-fortune-of-satoshi-nakamoto/

Both need a password, that most likely only the original "Satoshi Nakamoto" knows. If he would write a message now, after years of silence, he would definitely use one, or even better, both possibilities to proof its authenticity. He would not simply forget that for sure.

Probably he has lost his private keys so there will be no proof.

Possible, but very unlikely.
Anyway, if someone claims to be him and has no proof, noone should ever believe him.

There is a 1 million btc wallet  Shocked Shocked ??

no.. he has like few hundred thousands of wallets with 50 btc in each... if i recall correctly.

So, what if he lost his private key? I mean, personally, i've lost a few keys in my life  and i had to update all my boxers with my new public key. Shit happens.
If that happens, i guess we can never really be sure who satoshi is .

No. Well maybe, but not in that it only contains one address. The estimated one million bitcoin that satoshi owns is split up into several thousand addresses.

no http://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html

but you're right.

Bitcoin network is so decentralized. What some Satoshi claim-to-be can do is trivial.

but you're right.
I think he was saying that a single "wallet" like a multibit wallet or a blockchain.info wallet would contain the keys to all the addresses that contain the million bitcoin. (I would assume that the wallet would actually be a QT wallet)

find an original Satoshi's address
then sign it
so we can verify if you really Satoshi.

But I think Satoshi will not show up again.
If somebody claim as Satoshi than he must work really hard to convince people

If someone pushes it too far with the identity suplantation im pretty sure that Satoshi himself will come back and make a post about it (unless he is dead obviously ...)

This question may be asked earlier but how would we verify that person is telling the truth?

He will never divulge who he is. Ever. That if he wants to stay anonymous and transact anonymously.
